    EV tariffs

Agreed, there are 2 questions here, whether to fork out a grand for charging quicker, and secondly is it worth getting a time of day tariff, i.e. does the off peak usage counter the increased peak rate usage. Regards the latter you can work this out, based on your normal household usage plus...

Thank you, although the standing charges look a bit all over the place. See this post BG or Octopus EV tariff

    EV tariffs

Standing charges will be the same whichever supplier you go for, they are set by Ofgem for the region. Octopus slightly reduce them from the max allowed, maybe others do too but it is merely a penny or two. Also whilst demanding that we compare like for like only and take other factors into...

Not forgetting the removal of VAT for standalone batteries and installation recently.

    BG or Octopus EV tariff

Just for reference this link show the price cap from Ofgem by region for electricity. Unit price and standing charges are by region and also whether you are on a single rate tariff or a time of day tariff. Also by payment method...

The Givenergy AIO does have solar input out of the box as far as I'm aware, no need for any other inverters.

    BG or Octopus EV tariff

Not just Octopus, the standing charge is set for all suppliers by Ofgen same as standard variable cap. The supplier can undercut that figure but not charge more. Octopus slightly reduces theirs from the standing charge cap. Octopus' by region show it does vary enormously. Funny how London gets...

    BG or Octopus EV tariff

That standing charge for Octopus is low, it looks like mine pre April. Mine currently on Octopus is 65.37p, still cheaper than Eon's but not by much (£7.56/year).

Octopus won’t replace my smets1 meter

My SMETS1 meters were upgraded remotely by Octopus nearly 4 years ago when I switched to them and have been on Go ever since.

Octopus Go will reduce prices in April 2024

In my area I've heard Intelligent night rate is the same but day rate down to 25p something. No idea yet about ordinary Go. Update just received email from Octopus. My region brutal increase in standing charge which means as a low daytime user my annual bill will reduce by just £29. :(

Octopus Go will reduce prices in April 2024

Since Octopus Go, Intelligent or not, is a variable tariff I would hope so.

    Solar with battery, loving it!

I do look at this often and you have noted a few things. The coal has been used quite a bit recently but only when everything else is maxed out. Nuclear when at full whack is delivering over 5GW which at normal (not freezing cold) total demand can account for about 16% of demand. Hopefully the...

Brilliant, this is exactly what I am thinking of doing. My Consumer board would be the other side of the wall a bit further along.

    Solar with battery, loving it!

When you say outdoors....do you mean outdoors or in a building/structure that is not part of the main building. I ask as considering building a small lean-to shed/outbuilding to house batteries as nowhere decent to put them in the house.

A little help and advice please

Another option. Get batteries to suit your household needs only (cheaper), and top them up from solar. Top up car (and batteries when needed) from cheap off-peak electricity.
