Reading between the lines I think you are charging your car on fast DC chargers and not at home on an AC charger. When was the last time you charged your car on a slow AC charger and let it do a balance charge?

@Rolfe Just to give your planning even more charging options, it appears Tesla have opened most of their superchargers to non-Teslas. Either that or its a glitch in the Tesla app.

How old is the USB cable? Perhaps the insulation had a defect where it flexed and two or more wires were shorting making the car think it was a USB drive.

At night you can see the reflection of your brake lights in your rear view mirrors especially if there is a refelective road sign behind you.

I wondered if it was condensation too. Try heating the area gently with a hair dryer to see if they go away. There seems to be some dark scratches above and to the right of the white marks and a lot of hairline horizontal scratches too. Have you taken it through a car wash?
