I begin to think that for a French trip I would bite the bullet and use mainly Ionity to remove charge issue anxieties (Not read of MG/Ionity problems).With three or four in the car the economics of cost becomes immaterial.
Most OEM batteries are low cost contract price and not the best. I always fit a good quality battery at the first sign of trouble as it’s cheaper than faffing around with additional dealer visits.
Yes. I had a Mercedes Vito van that was out of warranty when the engine blew up - it cost just short of £9k to sort. Owning an aging Merc is not cheap.
