I have had a BP (ex Polar) subscription for the last 5 years and have very rarely saved the monthly cost in reduced pence/kWh charges. I used to plan all my long distance journeys around BP recharge sites, usually Holiday Inns because they are easy to find and many of them had a rapid charger...
I have used Polar rapid chargers at Holiday Inns several times. Just report your car details to reception and I've been offered a free coffee while I wait on more than one occasion. If I'm not a guest at any hotel I always report to reception but quite a few say no need or ask how long I'll be...
Hi Tom. From the Smartcharge website by selecting home charging will lead you to a login page for homecharge/chargevision. Once you have your login you will see the facilities available. I'm not very impressed with Chargevision or its reliability. Sometimes it is impossible to login for hours at...
I had a BP Chargemaster 7kW installed last September costing £599 after the grant which BP claimed. In 2017 the cost for a dumb charger (looks physically identical) was £395 after the government grant of £500 then.
The Chargevision App associated with the newer smart charger appears to work...
My ZS replaced a BMW i3 94aH I had for nearly 4 years and 28000 miles. I miss the one pedal driving and climate control/pre-conditioning but that’s about all. I was attracted to the MG by the price and range initially. After test driving the ZS I found the visibility much better, the ride...
Eastbourne to Hartlepool and back around 760 miles in an i3. 10 stops in all and met some interesting, friendly people during Rapid re-charging at Holiday Inns etc. Planned numerous alternative/backup charging points but just played it by ear as required and never risked getting too low. No...
I have an account with BP so they are my first go to and have used them far more than Shell & Instavolt which I voted Excellent for both as I had no problems at all. The times I have had problems with BP their help line advisors have been very helpful and either suggested nearby alternatives or...
I've been with BP Pulse ( Polar) for 5 years and never had a problem like that. In fact on a few occasions they have missed off a couple or so charges in a month.
If it's a new account maybe worth checking with BP they have not got their wires crossed with another account?
Hi Stuart. Great video. After watching I had a play around with route planning. It's so much easier and improved since the last time I tried which admittedly is quite some time ago. I will definitely go back to using it for my next trips planned when Boris permits.
Thank you for taking the time...
I like the look of the Thinkware camera. Seriously thinking of replacing my old Nextbase 412GW with a front and rear Thinkware setup. You've converted me.
Stuart. Your mileage figures for the journey were very impressive considering your motorway speeds. Wish the MG was as efficient.
I have a 100 amp supply fuse. BP Pulse installed a 2nd 7kWh wall box last year saying I just crept within the maximum limit. Like you I have the usual white goods including 2 x 32 amp cooker points and the original 7kWh wall box installed about 5 years ago. I don't have a power shower point...
I have 2 Polar (now Pulse) 7kW chargers and plug in whenever I need to so not sure if they are compatible for timed cheap rate/solar charging but are proving reliable units. The installations were done quickly once all the survey work was approved ( they ask for photos of off-road parking...
I have a Polar RFID and ZapMap which is all I have needed in the last four years. During country wide/length trips (from the south coast) I have also used Instavolt and Shell recharge contactless when Polar have been sparse. With all new rapid installations having to be contactless I don't see a...
Not sure the difference between Generation 3.1 or 3.2 but guess something to do with resilience and durability. Those on your link look up to the job spec wise but make sure you get at least a 5mtr length as any shorter will be very restrictive. Prices for a 5mtr length are slightly cheaper than...
