I'm guessing that the idea is that once the car's moving it could be dangerous if the power suddenly cut off because (say) the battery in the key fob chose that moment to go flat.
Do you have a link to the article you saw?
Strongly disagree. In all cases the general public made important decisions on the basis of lies and fake news spread by powerful special-interest groups. The same is now happening with EVs (and other green technology).
Wow, people hitting another car when they're trying to park eh? That never happened before EVs!
EV propaganda is just giving people more excuses to use when they mess up.
From that article it sounds like MG don't have access to his car to examine it, and are in contact with him trying to arrange it. So who recovered it and where to and where is it now?
Really? There's a mechanical lock of some kind on the brake pedal that can be applied by the car's operating system?
Are you sure that's not just the effect of the lack of servo power making the brake pedal seem harder to press?
I couldn't disagree more. This story is EXTREMELY dubious and it's right to treat it with scepticism. People lie all the time, and lies get reported in the media, including by the BBC.
It seems like the evidence from high mileage users (taxis and the like) of EVs shows battery life isn't a problem. As GG says, the battery will not be the part that determines the life of the car.
Even if there is a problem (due to poor charging practices maybe) battery costs are coming down...
Is it the 'find my car' function being activated? On the MG5 there's a setting for that on the centre display that allows you to have it just flash the lights instead.
I've had my granny charger on for 16 hours (it's all I use at home) and the worst the plug's been is just detectably warm. It's plugged into a metal-clad socket in my garage.
It really does depend on the quality of the socket you plug into. They aren't all equal.
