V2L - vehicle to load adapter / cable

Yes, apparently the 12V battery starts to discharge after a couple of hours of V2L. Using the app to check the vehicle status appears to get the 12V battery charging again - so do this every couple of hours. EDIT: Using the app seems to tell the car that the 12V battery is low and can actually...

V2L - vehicle to load adapter / cable

Hey Stefan In a previous post, you said: Do you mean that you connected the V2L output from the car to your house, in parallel with grid mains? Since these AC sources are not phase synchronised, I would expect this to damage the inverter in your car. I'm curious to know if this is what you meant.

V2L - vehicle to load adapter / cable

The car looks at the resistance between PP and PE to determine that a discharge cable is connected. It doesn't seem to care about CP, so you can leave CP disconnected or tie it to PE, it doesn't matter.

V2L - vehicle to load adapter / cable

Interesting. I've noticed that the V2L inverter does some ground fault detection. If you pass some line (phase) current to ground, the inverter will switch off the 220V. It will try 3 times (with about 10 seconds between each try), then give up completely.

V2L - vehicle to load adapter / cable

John, how did you attach the high current cables (line, neutral and earth) to the pins in the Type2 connector? EV Cables have a very nice battery powered hydraulic crimp tool, costing about £750 which is beyond my budget! The PP and CP wires can be soldered because they don't carry any...

V2L - vehicle to load adapter / cable

I ordered a bespoke cable from them 3 days ago, showed it working on my car (in their car park) and now they're offering it for sale. Big thanks to James at evcables.co.uk :)

V2L - vehicle to load adapter / cable

680Ω doesn't work - I tried that. But today I'm going to try some other, more common resistor values - 430Ω 470Ω 390Ω 510Ω etc. I'll report back. EDIT: I tried lots of different resistors between PP and PE. Recognised as a V2L cable: 390Ω, 430Ω, 470Ω, 510Ω and 560Ω. I would recommend the middle...

V2L - vehicle to load adapter / cable

I made a V2L cable and it works. Thanks to DIY V2L for the details. I took a Type 2 connector and cable from an EVSE. I cut out the 680 ohm resistor (between PP and PE) and replaced it with 440 ohm (2x 220 ohm in series). At the other end of the cable I connected CP to PE with a wire link. My MG...

V2L - vehicle to load adapter / cable

Awesome - thanks DIY V2L. When I get my Alibaba V2L cable I'll be sure to post how it's connected inside. I'm building an EVSE which tracks my solar output, but would like to add autoV2L so it can reconfigure as a V2L adapter to discharge the car into cryptocurrency miners at night.
