580 HP Well it’s coming if you want it soon.

I don't know, I hope they are as the Cyberster is going to need it. Personally, I can't see why anyone would want that much performance from a family hatchback anyway, rather than a proper sports car format.

Corrosion timebomb on MG 4 ?

I've heard good things about this too. The massive can would be a pain to use in some areas though I'd think. My current favourite is Dinitrol.

Corrosion timebomb on MG 4 ?

I've noted during the last few (about 10 to 15) years, many manufacturers are now skimping on underbody finishing with almost no use of coatings, underseal/sealants these days. The cars just get left in the (now less effective, but environmentally better!) factory primer dip and modern...

    MG4 Reduction Gearbox Oil Leak

A car dealer swearing on his/her child's life? That's not much of a guarantee, they'd do it in a heartbeat even if oil was spewing out and pooling around their feet whilst swearing it! You'll be taking the word of estate agents next... :ROFLMAO: Anyway, I just popped in to see if this nonsense...

MG4 rims in Norway, better than in the rest of Europe?

Much nicer style. Disagree on the colour though, the sooner this awful trend of dark/black wheels is over the better. Then we can all get back to a brighter, shinier, world of metallic silver, how all wheels should be! (except for colour coded wheels on classic cars with chrome hubcaps) ;)

MG4 rims in Norway, better than in the rest of Europe?

The problem is the UK spec. MG4 wheels have clearly been designed to have covers and aren't styled to be seen, so they actually look terrible uncovered.

    Spare Wheel?

Well done, I too look forward to hearing about your floor solution. :)

    Spare Wheel?

Ha! Of course, don't know what I was thinking, I've amended. :)

    Spare Wheel?

Parting thoughts... The 16" wheel is over 11% out on the speedo. Also, you really don't want to drive at all with that much difference on the driven rear axle, I know space is the issue for us here, but you might cause damage to the diff, I think the 18" at 2% difference is the only real option.

    Spare Wheel?

The 18" VW is spot on, the 16" is nowhere near close. This is because, although they are indeed much higher profile, (70%) that's based on a very skinny tire width, so you don't gain any extra diameter from a smaller, skinny wheel with deeper tyre.

    Spare Wheel?

That's just the first example I pulled up, here's a bargain if you were close enough to pick it up! At least it shows what they sometimes can go for. :) Space Saver Spare Wheel 18" | eBay I wouldn't trust the crappy VAG jack by the way that comes with their wheels, if you do buy a "set"...

    Spare Wheel?

Just looked this up. The 16" golf wheel & tyre combo is far too small. There is an 18" VAG space saver option though, that will be almost exactly correct. Here's an example for sale on ebay at the moment: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/275572917753 Don't know the offset, but as it's a "skinny" and...

    Spare Wheel?

Edit: Wheel size and width is just too small too work, go with 18" as discussed below :) This is a very good tool for comparing wheel/tyre combinations to see how close a match you can get. Alloy Wheel & Tyre Fitment Calculator. Offset, Tyre Stretch and Speedo Error | Will They Fit

    Spare Wheel?

The Mk5/6 golfs (probably later or earlier too) are indeed 5x112 with a PCD of 57.1, so will fit. :)

MG4 rims in Norway, better than in the rest of Europe?

A much nicer design than the horrible plastic trims with ugly alloys underneath that we get over here. I buck the current trend of liking grim dark wheels and would much prefer a set in bright silver though.

Aero covers are damaging my alloys

It's not the lashing, no one uses anything with any form of metal in contact with the wheel surface, ever. I used to work in automotive shipping.

what to add on to a new car (cosmetic or practical)

Maybe, most manufacturers with bigger wheel options keep the same diameter though, with the tyres just getting narrower.
  18. Paulie68

what to add on to a new car (cosmetic or practical)

No, you can't get an overall bigger wheel & tyre package, (assuming it wouldn't rub) because it knocks all the measurements out.
  19. Paulie68

what to add on to a new car (cosmetic or practical)

No, the tyre side profile on the new wheels was dropped to match the original total diameter, so it was within 1% of the original spec.

what to add on to a new car (cosmetic or practical)

The most striking improvement, you could make cosmetically, is better wheels. The ones as supplied are mediocre looking and too small. It's an expensive choice as a new set of wheels and tyres doesn't come cheap. It will also reduce your range a little, but it is, without a doubt, the best...
