    Time For Underbody Protection?

Lovely, I'm all for it. flood all the cavities as well though, that's where any real rot will start and you can't see it until it's already terrible!

    How low did you go?

I've just realised this is the 5 thread, my experience was with the ZS, so it may differ... I really should check where I am occasionally!

    How low did you go?

I ran until it stopped once, at 10 miles you get the --- show up, zero your trip counter at this point and drive steady and you will have at least 10 miles. You get a red, very low battery warning at about 2 miles left, then a Turtle shows up and cuts power to a minimal level, literally about...

    Exclusive for £18500

Just realised, I'm quoting tyre sizes for the ZS. You'll need to check what you need for the MG5 if that's your car type as they're different!

They are a direct fit, make sure to get the A4 wheels as the offset is nearly the same as MG, there is an A5 variant that will fit but has the wrong offset. You do need spigot rings, available for a few pounds, to drop the centre bore from Audi to MG diameter. You also must change the wheel...

Yep, I have them too on my ZS, they're Audi A4 wheels, look awesome.

That's just nuts! I've just run it through Cazoo who offered £20,925 for it trade! Someone needs to snap it up sharpish...

    Automatic limiting of overnight charge

When the car is 100% charged, the battery is actually charged to about 93%/94% of capacity, so the battery doesn't get too stressed. Unless the car is going to be left sat for a while, in which case I'd run it down to about 50%, you'll do no significant harm in daily use 100% charging. For...

    Square number plate

Crazy thing is the UK motorcycle plate is close in size to the Chinese plate, that's why it fits so well.

    Square number plate

That would be a nice option if it were legal, but this isn't. You can only use the motorcycle sized letter format on imports where the plate recess doesn't allow for a standard UK plate. You're very likely to get pulled by the police sooner rather than later, and the car will fail its first MOT...

    Square number plate

Ohh... very naughty dealer here, instead of using the factory threaded mounts, they've drilled through the tailgate steel and used self tappers, virtually guaranteeing future rusting!!! I'd have gone spare!

    Square number plate

Personally, if I was to buy the 5, I'd move the badging to where it should have been to start with and fit a standard deeper plate to get rid of the lower holes/cover as below.

    Square number plate

    This is to scale.

    Square number plate

It's designed for the standard Chinese plate, you could fit a UK square plate, but it might look odd. Hold on and I'll knock you up a photoshop ;)

    New Car Collection Day!

Congratulations! Can't beat the first drive in a new car. I also have to admit I'm suffering from a little bit of range envy as well having a ZS lol!

    rapid charging battery percentage

No links, but I'm sure you can search charging behavior of various cell chemistry types. My own experience is an EE background and some experience with lithium battery behavior from my own EV conversion build, I've observed the phenomenon, it happens to a lesser degree even at lower charging...

    rapid charging battery percentage

Yes, of course, but you misunderstand my point. Whilst high current charging, the voltage pushes up much higher than the actual normal voltage at a given state of charge voltage. This is known as "surface charge" and dissipates over time, once charging stops. If the software establishing SOC...

    rapid charging battery percentage

I too have noticed this phenomena, I think a feasible reason for this may be the following. during rapid, high current charging, the battery voltage is pushed up significantly, if the software doesn't adequately allow for this, it will report a higher state of charge than is actually present...

    Wade depth

I read somewhere MG says 400mm is OK. Here's an Indian test of a Chinese spec car. Personally I'd try to avoid any wading, if nothing else, you're going to fill the underbody structure with filthy water and silt, leaving the car horribly rusty underneath after a few years.
