Correct. I just chuck the thing on top of the plastic tray, in the bag it came in, and close the bonnet on top of it. It works perfectly. I saw a reviewer do it in a YouTube video and just copied what she did.

Why not? The type 2 cable fits in there perfectly snugly, and hydraulic struts doesn't seem to be an issue.

You can get your type 2 cable underneath the bonnet anyway. I've got mine, in its bag, laid on top of the plastic tray and the bonnet closes over it just neatly enough to hold it in place.
