I got an Ohme Connector Cable that plugs into a commando socket. Got an electrician to fit the socket but it cost less than £500 (and that was when the PiCG still existed!). Works flawlessly via SIM card with Intelligent Octopus via the Ohme app. Don't think they still make that model but I'm...
Hardly up to the standard of your story but I had a Ford Sierra years ago and drove it for ages with a non-functioning fuel gauge. I knew it did around 450 miles to a full tank so I used to reset the trip counter each time I topped up the tank. That worked fine as long as I remembered the method...
That's true, but I'm sure they probably pay less too for energy generation overnight since it all goes toward grid balancing which is to their advantage as well
Ah yes, it needs to connect remotely with the charger and then establish the handshaking connection. When I set mine up it was very quick but you will need to have the car to get it up & running!
When using the app you need to select the Ohme charger as a compatible device, not the MG. The app will give you options of Ohme device type so you can select the Home Pro and continue from there. Hope that helps
Well with mine if it's set to, say, 85 miles overnight and only achieves 80, night two (without unplugging and therefore resetting the charge schedule) will only charge to add 5 miles! Sounds like you have the same thing going on. Have an experiment and see what you find... If the ppm overnight...
This sounds like it's related to the charge schedule you've got set up. F. ex. if you set it to add, say, 80 miles within the 4hr overnight window and then don't unplug, it thinks you've done what you wanted and won't do anything on night #2 etc. Have you tried setting up a higher % but still...
For that site you can also enter your reg no into a machine which prints a ticket for your free hour so no reason to use RingGo if charging is the only reason for your stop. If you're staying longer (there are many 7KwH chargers there too then RingGo would probably suit better
It was actually part of some other work so was just a question of running the SWA and connecting the commando socket and rotary isolator so wasn't charged (pun intended) as a stand alone job. Worked out around £250 for parts & labour I think + the charger. CU already had TT earth rod.
I got the Ohme cable commando plug for £199. Local electrician fitted the socket and it worked out cheaper than any other quote even with the OZEV grant taken into account! Very happy with it and works perfectly for overnight charging plus whatever needed as/when necessary
Totally agree with this. Also the installer then has to do the paperwork to eventually receive the £350 grant payment. Would have been a lot easier IMHO to, say, zero rate all EV chargers/installs for VAT to directly save the customer and have no paperwork for the installer.
I have an Ohme cable charger connected to a commando socket. It worked out around £450 for a local electrician to install the socket without any OZEV grant and
using the Octopus £199 offer for the box. I already had a TT earth rod installed. It's very discreet and has worked perfectly since...
Our local supermarket filling station (fuel for the lawnmower...) requires you to pre-authorise the payment card with PIN and then the final transaction amount is what's debited. Is this really any different?
