Dead car / flat 12 volt battery 😰

Personally I’d go for it, but I bought a NoCo booster HD - bigger and more expensive but does the job. The good thing about this is the battery chemistry - LiFePO4 pretty good for the price.

Dead 12V battery - any help and advice please?

Yeah this is what I do with my mk1 ZSEV. I don’t do much in terms of mileage and don’t leaver her charged to 100% unless I’m going on a drive. Can’t rely on the Zappi 2 to charge the 12v so use a maintenance charger (NOCO) to keep the 12v up to standard. I know some of the MK1s had problems...

    Updating the built-in satnav

I think you’re supposed to format the USB stick in the car first - don’t use a pc except for the site download.

    VERY WORRYING ALERT

There is a shelf to the right of the accelerator on the Mk 1 ZSEV, which is carpeted. I don’t think it’s meant to be a footrest. I have fairly wide feet, so the right side of my right foot has a tendency to catch this when pushing down on the accelerator and I find I need to adjust position on...

    VERY WORRYING ALERT

I find the accelerator pedal uncomfortably close to the brake pedal and have once hit both when intending to brake! A small adjustment in driving position has stopped that from happening now.

    AA Membership

What happens if you’re already an AA member when you buy/have a service with AA renewal included? Do you just give up your current membership and go with the freebie or can you add one to the existing membership. I’ve be with the AA for a long while and have gold membership. It’d be a shame...

Dead car / flat 12 volt battery 😰

Thanks everyone - very informative. I used a NoCo Genius 2 on my old RAV 4 - yes it was 20 years old and my first car from new. When Covid hit, I was told to Shield and so the car was on the drive for ages with just a drive round the block each week to keep the engine oiled and the tyres from...

Dead car / flat 12 volt battery 😰

Is there any problem in using a charger/maintainer device that’s directly connected to the 12v battery without disconnecting the battery from the car’s electrics? I know it’s safer but once the battery is disconnected, how do you lock the doors? Surely this would need to be done manually plus...

    rear wiper - missing cover?

Yeah - Acid rain, Saharan sand - has it’s own look when dry but not for me, I’m afraid 😀

    rear wiper - missing cover?

These round covers are very easily washed off their clip mount if you’re not careful! (Especially if using a jet wash).

    Home charger joys ...err

I had my ‘early adopter‘ SMETS 1 meters both exchanged for the more secure SMETS 2 meters FOC by Octopus. I was changing my tariff to an EV friendly one that required the new meters.

    Charging while unlocked

On the subject of which end to plug in first, I’ve always thought it wiser to plug in the car first as when it detects a connection and in my case, the car is locked, it activates the car port lock - you can hear it if like me, you sit in the car and use the manual door lock. I’d rather have...

    Charging while unlocked

On a similar topic, is the latest BMS and HV battery fuse updates chargeable? I’ve seen something from MG that said they would pay for the BMS update that fixed the battery equalisation problem but only up to March 30, 2020. About to get mine serviced in August and the software update would...
