    MG iSmart 2.0 [merged]

Hopefully dark mode will be added to v2 at some point, I miss it also!

Remove both rear spoilers on trophy version ?

It would be interesting to do some testing measuring pressures at different points of the car with and without spoilers fitted.

    Installing dash cams

Yep I've done it, used the power feed for the auto-dimming rear view mirror

Would you buy an MG 4 again?

The cameras are really nice to have also, along with the heated steering wheel. It's a shame a heat pump wasn't included on the trophy also, especially as it's included on some of the EU MG4s!

so.. who misses their ICE car....

I had my hopes up for the MG cyberstar , as it seemed like they may have been aiming to make something like an MX5. However I think it will be a struggle to make something that weighs 1100KG while still having a reasonable range, we shall see.

New version of iSmart on Apple is in km

Has anyone found a way to have it in the car so that it's in MPH, and also has the tyre pressures in PSI? I don't mind pressure in Bar, but I prefer PSI, and PSI is an imperial measurement, and I have everything in both the app and car set to imperial

MG4 Standard tyres are seriously dangerous!

Will you be keeping the summer tyres and swapping back to them in the summer?

MG4 would seem to have made it through a flooded ford

It's the big black tube that zip-tied to the side of the windscreen, there are also some green electical cables for the roof light next to it. Around 4.25 in the video it's easier to see :) This will be an aftermarket extra btw, I wouldn't recommend doing this in a regular 4x4 !

MG4 would seem to have made it through a flooded ford

If the air intake is above the water, then water in the exhaust will be OK, as it won't be totally blocked by the water - for example the air intake on this is a snorkel going to the top of the windscreen:

    Water in boot lid

Why they don't use the 3M sticky pads to attach the number plates it beyond me!

MG4 would seem to have made it through a flooded ford

I wonder if his rear diff is now filled with water and mixed with oil? :o Through the same port that the oil leaks with the overfilled oil levels? I'd hope there is a one way valve on this port

Would you consider the Ora Funky Cat instead of an MG4?

Personally I prefer RWD cars, I can't see myself going back to FWD, so I've not considered the Ora

    Discharge for power tools

Yep an angle grinder will not behave like a resistive load, it is more of an inductive load. Look up 'power factor' if you want to nerd out ;) You could probably connect up a 3000W kettle and it would work without issue.

LKA - We're not the only ones with gripes!

I've had similar to the video example where it can thinks you're going to rear end someone even at low speeds. My strategy is to leave a good sized gap between myself and the car in front, and be ready for anything!

    Incandescent bulbs!

I hate to be pedantic, but it looks like you have the bulbs being on for 1 hour here, when it's actually on for a minute. ;) 7.12W for a minute is 0.1186666667Wh, or 0.0001186666667 kWh - please correct me if I'm wrong!

    Incandescent bulbs!

I agree, but it really is little in this example... I thought I'd have a go at working out the extra range, I've tried to keep the numbers simple for this example: Let's assume the MG4 does 6 KM per 1 KWh, which is equivelent to 6 meters per 1 Wh. Let's also assume the pair of LED's use less...

    Incandescent bulbs!

Each bulb uses 5W, I would say it would meters rather than miles to the range if you were to swap them for LED's ;)

    Disabling Wireless Charging

Thanks, I don't actually use wireless charging on my phone as it creates a lot of extra heat, and it's slower than wired charging. I'll try turning it off on mine and see if this does the trick.

    Upgrade 12v battery

I've not had any issues with mine as the HV battery should charge the 12v battery when it gets low, so I don't see any reason to add any more weight to the car.

    Mg4 architecture

Nice, the link works for me, thanks very much for sharing this info. I don't have any equipment that can deal with the higher speed FD bus currently, but I'd be interested in a method of simply recording the video feed to SD card, so if I do pick up some FD capable kit and get anywhere I'll...
