Yes and no.... If they put plastic trim on it , you lose more space on the inside of the car. But most'of the car brands don't use welds,... They use big ton presses to press the doorpanel out of 2 metal sheets which they spotweld together.

Most cars manufacturers like Mercedes, VW,Audi,seat etc.....cover these welds up with plastic covers..... I wonder sometimes what's underneath that plastic. I have a mg EHS I'll be checking them tomorrow just to see if I find something.
