Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

I imagine, if there was a real problem with the car, there would have been a recall by now.

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

I was wondering about this story, a couple of days ago. Slightly disappointed that there is no new information but it does seem to confirm over-active imagination/driver error as the most likely explanation.

Car stuck ON and wont shut off

You can't beat the old turn it off and then turn it back on again trick.

Car stuck ON and wont shut off

I'd try disconnecting the 12V battery, leave it for a few minutes and then reconnect. The system will probably reboot itself and clear the problem.

    Reduced range in winter (merged)

Yes. Probably not an issue for people who normally charge at home but essential for good battery health for cars that are regularly DC rapid-charged.

    Reduced range in winter (merged)

Doing a slow charge (granny or 7kW) to 100% to allow the BMS (battery management system) to even out the charge in all the individual cells in the battery. You should do it about once a month.

New car, new owners, old problems!

Have you tried pulling the lever twice? Could be the child-lock.

    Private plate

I've got one on retention. (letter)MG 3 Saving it for the Cyberster (and a lottery win).

    Real world motorway range

And it is worth remembering that the few minutes you save driving at 70mph, rather than, say 60mph, could be more than lost if you have to make a longer/extra charging stop.

    Real world motorway range

Do you want to drive at 70mph or would 60mph suffice. Air resistance goes up with the square of the velocity.

    Regen limitations

Yes, I always may a point of using the brakes, every trip, as my use is fairly intermittent. I've been caught for rusty discs, too many times in the past. The pads and discs should still last the life of the car, though.

    Regen limitations

Probably safest to assume you haven't got any regen if you have a full battery or it is cold.

    Regen limitations

The battery can't charge as quickly when it is cold. The BMS will limit the amount of regen charge in line with battery temperature in the same way as it would using a public charger. You'd need to pre-heat the battery, if you want maximum regen, but you might not be much better off, in stored...

Mk2 brake lights flashing every few seconds

Here's my theory. The "flashing" car has the anti-collision system. It has its cruise control set 1 mph faster than the car in front of it, which also has cruise control set, so every five seconds the gap gets too small and the ZS automatically brakes.

12v battery drained, cant get recharged

Total discharge can be the coup de gras for a flaky lead-acid battery but it is worth trying what johb80 said, before buying a new one.

Got the dreaded - - - on the GOM today!

Yes, but whether it is usable is another thing. The top and bottom buffer are there to protect the battery. I've got home on 2%. And remember, if you go up a hill there will be a downhill. Make use of it.

Not getting the advertised range on full charge

The weather is cold, so the range drops. The same thing happens to ICE vehicles, as well.

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

Ah, I assumed the ZS had the same system as the MG5. My mistake.

Interesting/worrying story from Scotland - ZS with no brakes.

Depends on how fast you're going and how steep the hill is. If the power meter isn't showing maximum regen then when you touch the brake pedal the regen will increase until it reaches the maximum, only then the mechanical brake starts to assist. (there's probably a bit of crossover to make the...
