    Gridserve chargers

We've had issues with the Gridserve Ultra Rapids and my MG4 but the 50kW chargers generally work OK. We had a recent issue with a Gridserve 50kW and our MG ZS LR but we were able to get round the HV battery fault issue by using the iSmart App to restart communication with the car. It seems if...

Same problem with every charger but my home one!

I have had my first rapid charging fail in my MG4 and it happened to be at a Gridserve location on the M1 (Watford Gap from memory). Every other charger has worked fine, including MFG, Instavolt, EZ-Charge, Osprey. Fortunately, I actually didn't need to charge but thought I would give it a go...

Whats everyone's thoughts on the negative ev press ?

My thoughts are: We now know that Motorpoint, Cazoo, Cinch/WBAC all bought second hand EV's at inflated prices but when they bought them, they didn't foresee what was coming in terms of the fall in valuations. So, they 'overpaid' for cars purchased that they now have in stock , which they...

Whats everyone's thoughts on the negative ev press ?

If you look at the churn rate of second hand EV's on Cinch, Cazoo and Motorpoint, you will see their stock of EV's changes rapidly. So, although prices are without doubt falling (second hand and many new EV's and ICE cars) demand for EV's is still strong. Feels like a bit of a pricing...

Bit of reassurance for the MG5

One option is to take the car allowance and buy yourself a nearly ID3 at Motorpoint, who have a few to choose from. The way the market stands, you are unlikely to lose much money and there's a chance you will not be out of pocket at all. Even with the tax breaks of company cars, the current...

The where do I stop challenge !

I've done quite a few long journeys in several EV's, covering something like 10,000 long journey miles over the last 20 months. Although there are now many more reliable rapid chargers, there are also more EV's (and PHEV's). Reliability and availability of chargers is critical and of course a...

The where do I stop challenge !

Depending on your route, I would suggest Banbury as a strong location given there are Osprey (Bonnet), Tesla and InstaVolt charging hubs within minutes of junction 11 on the M40. Banbury is approx 150 miles from Leeds and around 100 miles from Southampton, so one stop at Banbury each way could...

Final jigsaw piece.... How far should I go up the Mway.

You now also have the Tesla Superchargers since Banbury is one of the 15 pilot sites for non-Tesla charging in the UK

    Won't charge. Any suggestions?

There was a time, and it might still be the case, that you had to 'claim' PodPoint chargers at Tesco's and the like via the PodPoint app. You identify the charger you are plugged into within the app and then 'claim' the charge port you are using, typically and 'A' or 'B'. From memory, the car...

Best to drive, MG5 or ZS, opinions ?

We owned the gen 1 ZS for one year and replaced it in October with a MG5 LR . I have also done 2 test drives in a ZS LR and I'm happy to share my opinion. For handling, drive quality and comfort I'd rank the MG5 LR the best and very marginally better than the ZS LR, which is a step up from the...

Any home Pod Point users here?

You should also receive an email before the one above asking you to click on a link to connect the app to your charger. Clearly, you will need to do this from the email on the smartphone you have the app installed on rather than a computer or tablet.

Any home Pod Point users here?

This is the sort of email you should receive from Pod Point, unless the procedure has changed in the last 12 months: Hi USER, Your home charger PSL-999999 (your charger point number) has been successfully linked to your Pod Point account. In order to activate the...

Any home Pod Point users here?

Have you tried 'Force Stopping' the App (Android terminology, apologies to iPhone users)? I find the PodPoint app doesn't always shutdown properly when you exit and you sometimes need to do a Force Stop' in the app settings to close it down and refresh the data.

Did I buy the long range?

Easiest way to check is to look at the colour of the ends of the stalks that operate the cruise control and indicators. On the long range MG5 they will be light blue as in the picture since MG Pilot is installed.
