I'm getting the same problem on my MG5 . I had thought it was related to my recently repaired rear washer feed issue...wrong . Dried it out and first bit of heavy rain and swimming pool has returned . Phoning the dealer on Monday so that they can look at it this year....hopefully ;)

I can't answer your first question . On is probably is the default setting . My last car was the same I just switched it off when I started the car and after a while muscle memory took over . The second issue could be a low 12Volt battery . At a week old I would be popping it back to the dealer

I think you are correct about the myth of ICE cars losing range . I have had two hybrids for about 3and a half years and 50000 + miles in each case . Both had better fuel efficiency when exchanged than when new ...by a long way
