What's the effect on battery life of regularly charging to 100%

Exactly right ... plus, I feel somewhat left out, having owned two ZS EVs over the last five years or so; a gen 1 with NMC battery & now a gen 2 SR with LFP. I have never had any problems with either car, the service centre has always been brilliant as is the warranty & roadside assist, and...

so.. who misses their ICE car....

There’s no going back really, after having experienced zero gears, huge torque & great acceleration & regen breaking on any EV … I’ve had some very nice ICE cars in the past & especially loved my Audi & Saab cabrios, but that was more about aesthetics. Meanwhile the more luxury EV sector is...

    Wind Deflectors

Seriously, that is one job I would have fitted at the dealers, factory parts and workshop fitted. They’re a pig to fit properly and align correctly, and look right, and not fall off. And 2) much of the aftermarket stuff is complete rubbish, badly made, poorly finished and often with some...

    Range estimation at -30 celsius?

I assume the 'short range' MG4 model mentioned is the 51kWh LFP version, perhaps worth checking EV Database (although these temps seem fairly extreme): https://ev-database.org/car/1707/MG-MG4-Electric-51-kWh

New version of iSmart on Apple is in km

Yes, odd. There are only THREE countries in the world that are still officially using the imperial system: The US, MYANMAR, and LIBERIA. However, in Myanmar and Liberia, the metric system has been used parallel with imperial, and both countries are on their way to completely switch on using only...

    MG4 LFP/NMC batteries

There's really nothing new here re. LFP vs NMC battery chemistry at the time of writing - no doubt, this will heat up a lot in the next few years as we see newer batteries come onto the market with faster charging times & longer ranges. For now, most EV maufacturers uses this same duality in...

Ask for a new password first, get the email, then use this, then unbind.

Radio stops once my phone gets a message, or I unlock it.

Annoying, yes. This has been covered elsewhere in this forum, eg, Radio & Bluetooth irritation Bottom line is to turn off Audio (the music component) in the phone via the gear icon next to the car BT connection. This still allows for Calls & Contact Sharing to remain connected. There's also...

MG iSmart with car on wifi connection only?

No. In Australia, the Infotainment SIM chip uses the Vodaphone network & this has no relationship to local wifi or not. iSmart has enough useful fetaures to make it worthwhile for us: remote charging control, find my car & GPS. remote activation of pre-heating or pre-cooling etc.

    Reset password on iSmart app

I used email acct (not phone number) to ask for new pw & that came fairly quickly.

Guess-o-meter calculations. What is your true range and how much you should trust the car's Algo.

In general, less 30%. This database is useful: https://ev-database.org/car/1540/MG-ZS-EV-Standard-Range

    Reset password on iSmart app

I had to do this, butdidn't need to unbind. Log out, then login again. When logging in, there is a field to ask for a new password, then I received an email with confimation number, then reset password. No need to unbind unless you would like to create a new account with a differnet email acct.

    MG iSMART issues

You're right, thx. Went I went to 'unbind' in the car settings, this only redirected me to the app again.

    MG iSMART issues

Thanks, but I don’t see this a related to binding, that can be unbound in the car settings. This is an email account login problem.

    MG iSMART issues

My iSmart for Android set up & bound quickly & easily on 2022 ZS EV Essence. Was all good for a few days, then suddenly: Would not run without needing a password again, then wouldn’t accept the original pw (which hadn’t changed). Then tried to ask for a new password, but this needed the...

Charging battery to full on regular basis or allow it to go down to 5 percent before topping up

Yes we heard you the 1st, 2nd & 3rd times. I dont see anyone 'fretting' here so much, but rather an interesting & collegial discussion now based on a little empirical evidence and/or external expert opinion & less FaceBook-styled shouting. Has been nice to meet a few new ideas.

Charging battery to full on regular basis or allow it to go down to 5 percent before topping up

Exactly, I agree - but they dont 'enforce' it like MGs sw.

    iSMART only work in UK?

Well, it’s on a phone plan with its sim. Uses Vodaphone in Australia & so in travelling to different countries would need to be able to change networks. Ask MG, one would have thought this be an obvious thing in the UK & the EU with various jurisdictions being so close to each other.

Charging battery to full on regular basis or allow it to go down to 5 percent before topping up

Yes, the various Tesla charging articles indicate that Tesla is more interested in the customer satisfaction side of the equation & so more accurate SOC with a 100% charge for LFP makes better sense than worrying too much about battery degredation on a chemistry which allows far more cycles than...
