I understand there are 3 selections for Kers - is there some place on the screen or elsewhere which indicates which of the 3 selections I am in at present?

    KERS MG ZS EV

Hi Guys, Just noticed, KERS re-gen braking stopped working this morning after I charged the battery to 100% last night. is this normal? any thoughts? Kind Regards

    Switching off KERS??

I know this is not an option on the 5 but does anyone else feel that even KERS 1 is a bit strong when trying to coast down a modest incline. Without KERS the car would maintain a decent speed but I often find I am having to apply the throttle to maintain a constant speed and prevent slowing...

    KERS clarification on mixed roads

Hi all. 500 miles in and loving my SR. I know there are various KERS related posts but was there a definitive view specifically around the best (i.e. most economical) setting on motorways and fast flowing duel carriageways? My new job in January involves an 88 mile round trip mostly on such...

    KERS NOT WORKING ,

Hi all, has anyone had the kers not working properly, its not braking very hard in no 3 mode, I thought it could be the cold weather, I get a message On screen telling me to use my brakes. mg zs ev reg October 2020. thanks Steve

Will toggling KERS mid-drive increase wear and tear?

I’ve had my MG ZS EV for a few days and I’ve taken to playing around with the KERS levels in lieu of using the brake in different circumstances. I prefer to coast on KERS 1 during normal driving but I’ve started to toggle up to 3 mid-drive as I approach a set of lights or if I’m heading down a...

Recall for brake light in KERS 3 /rate of deceleration.

I’ve just read the 5 is getting a recall to resolve the issue that the brake lights do not illuminate when the regen causes the car to decelerate past a certain threshold - as specified by law. Anyone heard about the ZS getting a recall too to fix this? It is something that worries me when...

MG5 KERS 3 & Brake Light Operation - Safety Recall?

Dropped my car off at the dealer this morning for some warranty related work and got some very interesting news. On the work schedule there was an additional item for a KERS 3 Brake Light Operation safety update. This was actually described to me as a safety recall with letters to owners due to...

    KERS / CRBS - What's the difference?

Hi all. Browsing the manual whilst I'm waiting for my MG5 to arrive, I see that this car has both KERS (so 'Kinetic Energy Recovery System') that kicks in when you let off the accelerator and slows the car , recharging the battery a bit. It also has CRBS (Co-operative Regenerative Braking...

    KERS...

I've had my ZS Exclusive for 2 weeks now and I'm a little disappointed in the KERS, isn't this function meant to put some more battery % in the car? I say this as my colleague has a BMW ev and has said she can sometimes drive 10 miles and due to the KERS function she can sometimes have more...

    Motorway KERS level

I’ve read a lot of conflicting statements regarding the best KERS level for motorway driving, some say that have it in KERS 1 and release the accelerator early and take the longer KERS regeneration and other state have it at 3 and take the stronger regeneration, what’s everyone’s thoughts on this ?

    KERS experiment

Set off earlier in my 5, fresh off the charger and 100% battery. I selected E mode and thought about KERS. Now, I know the 5 doesn't allow one to select KERS 3 until the battery has gone down a bit but all I know is that it's "around 95%" Well, there was me, chugging across Norfolk on country...

    KERS button not working

Have the car for over 1 year and was sure I could change the kers regenaration by pusing or pulling the kers button, I have all the lastest updates done to the car in Feb this year. When I switch the car on it defaults to REN 3, push the button it goes from 3 to 2, push again 2 to 1, but thats...

How can one set default values for Mode and KERS?

As the 5 is "out of the box", it starts up in Normal Mode and KERS 2. I'd like the ability to set different power on defaults and have my car start up in Eco mode and KERS 3 (if it'll wear it, though I think KERS 2 might have to do as that covers all states of charge).

    Kers and mode ;

Does everyones ZS EV default to Normal mode coupled with Level 3 Kers even if you only leave the car for a couple of minutes ? is there a way of storing your own preferences? Not a massive problem but just wondered if there is a solution. thanks.

Setting Mode and Kers as a default on startup

I drive entirely using Eco mode with Kers 1 as I feel this is the most economical pairing. It means that I have to select both whenever I start the vehicle which is a bit annoying and I wonder how long I can do that for before the switches fail. Does anyone know if its possible to set Mode and...

    Kers

I am sure I read somewhere that if you have your car in Kers 3 that when it is activated the brake lights come on but in Kers 2 the brake lights remain off. I have looked at my manual but cant find it anywhere. Anyone know if it is true or not ?

    Kers in cold weather

Has anybody noticed a reduction in regenerative braking in cold weather, the battery might not accept full regen if cold?

What is KERS or regerative braking on an electric car?

One of the clever ways that electric cars conserve electricity (to extend their range) is by recovering it when braking or slowing down. Exactly how they do this doesn't really matter so long as it works. It's called by various names by different manufacturers and organisations. Some refer to...

Use of KERS (regenerative braking) on the MG ZS EV

I have been the different articles regarding range etc. and notice that KERS is hardly mentioned. Why is this, I would be interested to know how this has been used, and if so does this affect obtainable range
