tethered charger

A **tethered charger** is a charging device with a **permanently attached charging cable**. The user plugs the fixed cable directly into the device being charged, rather than supplying their own detachable cable.

This term is most commonly used for **electric vehicle (EV) charging points**, where a tethered charger has the charging lead built in, as opposed to an **untethered charger**, which only provides a socket.
