I've been looking at wheels as the standard ones feel a little dull to me.
I'm not really sure of sizes etc as I've never changed the wheels on any of my past cars.
What do you think of this one? the MAK koln black mirror?

Nevermind the ride or the aesthetics, bigger wheels are less efficient so you'll lose at least 5% of your range.
Lower profile tyres are more susceptible to sidewall damage from potholes.
I like the look of bigger wheels, but not the extra firmness to the ride and the extra cost and more noisy tyres.

So having thought about what you have said about size, handling and range. I've decided to go with the alternate MG alloy for the MG5 as it's near enough the same as I was looking at, but is the exact same size as the original wheels so will take the same tyres which will be fine to get me through the summer until I get some vector 4 season. They were on a buy 3 get the forth free. Which made them the same price...
I love big wheels on a car - they set it off. it is something to do with how they fill the wheel arches better The issue is there’s always a trade off. Bigger wheels mean lower profile tyres and generally a harder ride. On an EV bigger wheels do also affect range. Sticking with the same size is ok but I don’t think you get the same look. Of course you don’t have to buy new tyres then either!

Would this size work? Subaru wheels may be a match I understand. A little wider would impact the rolling resistance but improve mandeling perhaps?

The only improvement in handling would be when cornering at speed as there would be less sidewall deformation under lateral load. You won't notice unless you take it on to a racetrack. I'm not certain of the implications of reducing the total circumference. You would lose some range.

Any changes to wheels and tyres should always be done with consideration to other affected components - mostly suspension. Wheel changes alone are unlikely to make any improvements to handling as the manufacturer will have set up the car for the intended wheels and tyres. You don’t really want to alter the rolling radius or overall circumference unless you’re prepared for the impact it will have on speedometer and mileage calculations. This is why with bigger wheels the tyres get a lower profile in order to keep the effective rolling radius the same. Most people just change wheels to look better. You should also notify your insurer of any changes from standard. I found the MG5 to handle ok for what it is I must say.

The ones I'm looking at ATM are still 16's but I may goto 17's, the wheels do look tiny. I can't believe we used to run around on 12 and 13 inch wheels.

I was watching an old American crime series yesterday and the 80s police car had tiny wheels and huge sidewalls, it looked really weird, it looked like 12" wheels and 6" sidewalls. :D

I personally like the default alloys however it would be nice if they were 17 or 18". I understand they would affect range but I think 17" is standard now

I got mine powder coated gloss black.
Just makes the car look a bit more individual.
I've put black mirror caps on since too.
They look good, if I end up getting my MG5 I may consider that option rather than changing the wheels (which look a damn sight better that the ZSev ones) at least that keeps them the same size.
I had my daughters Mazda 3 wheels refurbed and powder coated in January at a cost of £75 per wheel, so about the same price. They came to the house, jacked the car, left it safe and returned the completed wheels the next day. Tyres off, refurbed, tyres on and balanced all in the price.

They look better on the silver at #1. Still personal preference
Yeah the Passat is nice, and I think they maybe bigger than the 16's that are shown on my car. Starting to worry blue was a poor choice, but I've had so many silver cars 🙄

Oh, don't say that about the Blue, that's what I ordered, it's still at the dealers as not happy about the roof rail issue. It will look nice when polished up. The red is nice but common, the white is a taxi and the black is well black! And the silver? Just a good stade millennium 2000 colour.
