Are you connecting wirelessly or via a cable? If with a cable the USB port on your phone might need cleaning or a better quality data cable is required.

Here's a video which may help

Android Auto Error 11 is a communication error typically caused by a faulty USB cable, dirty port, active VPN, or incorrect system time. To fix it, immediately replace your USB cable with a high-quality data cable, turn off any VPN/ad-blockers, and ensure Bluetooth is on.

Key Troubleshooting Steps for Error 11:
  • USB Cable & Port (Most Common): Use a high-quality USB cable, preferably under 3 feet/1 meter. Clean the USB port on your phone to remove lint.
  • Disable VPN/Ad-Blockers: Turn off any VPN (e.g., NordVPN) or ad-blocking apps entirely before connecting, or white-list Android Auto using "split tunneling".
  • Check Date & Time: Ensure your phone and car's head unit display the same, accurate time.
  • Clear Android Auto Cache: Go to phone Settings > Apps > Android Auto > Storage, then select "Clear Cache" and "Clear Data".
  • Check Permissions: Ensure "Nearby devices," "Phone," "SMS," and "Location" permissions are enabled for Android Auto in your phone settings.
  • Force Restart: Restart your phone and your car's infotainment system.
