I love my MG5 EV, but after a lifetime in motorsport I don't really like the 205 60 16 wheel and tyre arrangement fitted as standard.
After a bit of research it seemed that VAG 5x112 wheels would fit and having found a set fitted with 205 50 17s for £100, the seller let me try them on to make sure.
They fit perfectly, with a similar rolling circumference, but I didn't want Audi wheel caps on an MG!

The caps have a press-out Audi emblem and chrome ring, so these were all carefully removed.

The recesses where the Audi emblems sit are quite deep, so a smear of body filler in each was necessary.

Using clear tape to protect the rest of the cap, each one was rubbed down, retaining the slight dome shape

I found a chap on Ebay selling 40mm chrome MG decals, and he kindly put them on 60mm matt black discs for less than £4 including postage!

These were applied to the caps, with a 2mm oversize that the chrome ring squeezes in on, making sure they don't peel.
Pretty pleased with the outcome! 🙂

I'll see if the new wheel / tyre combination makes a significant difference to the handling, I can always put 225 45 17s on as I have a dozen lying around, but the 50s definitely fill the arches better. Here's all 4 caps ready to finish the job, I might refurbish the wheels too if I like the setup, I'll post a pic of them on the car when I get a moment to fit them!

I like the original wheels but agree that you should look wider than MG if you want to replace them.

Please keep us updated. The wheels look great and that is a good job you have done re the centre caps
Thanks 🙂
Having taken a wheel off to try the 17" Audi wheels, there was no noticeable tyre pressure sensor equipment... does anyone know how the system works?
I got a flat a few weeks ago and it flanged it up instantly.

I think the sensors are inside the wheel(at the valve?). So it would be tyres off to get access to them.
