I have seen this issue in the MG4 forum but it seems to carry over into the S5. When it rains the lights don't come on automatically even when the wipers are wiping furiously (which they did in every car I have had for years). You then have to turn the lights from auto to 'on'. When you then leave the car there is no audible warning that they are still on and they don't turn off after a short pause or when you lock the car (which they have in every car I have had for years). I appreciate that it might not use much battery but it is annoying to come out and find the car with its lights on. Finding this car to be great mechanically but very annoying from a user experience point of view.

Yeah - I think the ZS EV was the same, you would have thought that MG would got the idea by now 🤣.
You know, I can’t help but think that with all of the fancy “automatic this and automatic that” items we are given today, it makes it really easy when they work, but the more you build in, the more there is to glitch or go wrong !.
In the good old days, if it rained you just turned on the wipers, then on off again when it stopped ? - Simple !.
Having the auto wipers when there is frost / ice on the front screen can be a disadvantage, when you jump into the car and it boots up, the wipers try to clear the ice from the glass, wrecking the rubber on the blades at the same time.
Sensors can misread the situation and can therefore be fooled unfortunately.
Like when your automatic sensors on your house outside lights 💡 is strangely triggered, but there is nobody there 🤷🏻🤣.
