Please note that you should consider this list out of date immediately, and so it's useful as a guide only. Please check the tariff details before switching.

Hi Stuart - brilliant work as always. However, could you not have done this a week earlier?! My energy plan can be renewed next week, so I spent the best part of this week compiling the exact same list with nearly all of the same details, so I could do a comparison.

I've since plumped for Octopus Go and will be arranging my switchover in a few days, so I've not voted just yet - just in case!

Thanks again for your continuing efforts in the forum. It's very much appreciated. (y)😁

Cheers

To get onto "go faster" tariff - email [email protected] with account details. Main rule, not switched octopus tariff in 30days and have a working octopus smart meter. Time slots is subject to availability, starting from 20.30 and ending 06.30, you send your option and they come back with final offer.

Great work to pull this together. It’s worth noting that if you use an existing users link when signing up for Octopus Go you get £50 credit each which effectively gives you about 6 Months free of any standing charges. Others will also be happy to share their links - here’s mine 🙂
Octopus Energy

Don't forget it's not just about the overnight rate, also consider the daytime rate and what you use and also the daily standing charge comes into play. It can sometimes be easy to get distracted by those cheap overnight rates and forget the rest.

I'm with Avro and the price per kWh is 12.6p anytime of day and standing charge of 14.7p/day. (both inc VAT)

I did the sums and for my mileage and home usage none of the EV tariffs, yet, have worked out cheaper for me.

Octopus may be a good value source of energy. Shame they can't get their billing correct. I have just paid £256 and they have told me to expect a £412 bill later this month. And they admit they have a problem with my account.

If its not sorted this month I will be saying goodbye to them............

I've just switched to Avro energy duel fuel on their simple & savvy 12M tariff which was over £700/year cheaper than what we were paying before. o_O

This has been helpful, was going to go for octopus before getting the EV now it seems to be the obvious vhoice. Have read some

Octopus is becoming the go-to EV home supplier to go to if it meets your needs - i’ve saved around £60/month since switching. Plus the £100 split incentive if you use an existing users link 🙂

Did they give you a new Smart 2 meter? I only have a Smart 1 meter at the moment so I don’t know whether to switch or not.

I've saved loads since joining, I very much enjoy Octopus Go

Yes - I had to have a smets2 i think its called. Very quick to install for me anyway. Others may be different.

Octopus put in a new SMETS2 meter in place of the SMETS1 that was fitted by British Gas. The trouble is, for some reason, the meter wasn't commissioned before it was fitted so it is still not working.

Dave

I've got a SMETS1 meter that had been fitted previously by EON (it's a Secure Liberty 100) but Octopus have had no issues with reading it and I was quickly moved onto their Go and then Go Faster tariffs which has saved me a bit of cash but I especially like how I can view my previous usage in 30 mins segments which shows me my 'peak' periods of electricity usage.

Cheers
