Bigger wheels, wider tyres, boy racer 4 life 😂

Curious to know how you got on with the TPMS ? Thanks.
I bought a universal programmable set with programming pad. You simply copy and paste the original sensors code to the new one on each wheel and it just works. You could swap the originals over instead if you wanted to, but it gave me the option of using either set of wheels.

Or you can buy the MG originals from a dealer, then pay them to program them to the car, but that would have cost another £100 or so.

Very interesting. How did you get the info from the originals? Presumably you need to have the tyres off to get to the information on the sensor itself? I saw a youtube video regarding MG sensors being coded to a specific wheel and tyre, making it difficult to say swap front to back without upsetting the sensors (you would need to remember which wheel was where it was originally).
Would you have a link or the information on the set you bought please. I have bought two sets of wheels, one for summer and one for winter (both Audi VW origin). I have put the 'winter' set on for now so I can wear out the existing summer tyres over the next 6-7 months before fitting correct winter tyres at which point I can fit some sensors.
A few pictures attached of the gloss black 'winter' rims as currently fitted and the currently silver (will be painted gloss black) 'summer' rims.

The reader takes the code from the original sensor by WiFi in situ, so you don't need to mess with tyres on the original wheels at all.

Sensors are Autel MX universal sensors and the programming pad is an Autel Maxi TPMS pad.

These are readily available from ebay or amazon.

Just a thought, as you're using VAG wheels, you did change the wheel bolts to radiused type I trust? I know of some who overlooked this! The MG bolts are a flat taper

Thanks for the info. I will have a look.

Good point. Yes, big fan of VAG vehicles over the years, many Audi's, VW and latterly a couple of Skoda Octavia's. I have spare sets of both locking wheel nuts and the convex seat lug bolts so I was ok.

As a long standing VAG fan, how does the new ZS shape up in terms of build quality etc in your opinion?

We have only had it a week so early days. However I am very impressed so far. It drives extremely well, almost as fast as my old A6 Quattro estates I used to run many years ago! Quite a surprise when you stick your boot down. Build quality seems to be as good as most European makers and better than several I can think of. Probably not Audi VW but closer to the Skoda range, but nothing wrong with that! Only time will tell on the longevity of components and interior materials.

I’ve bought this car Monday it has 1100 km driven
18 inch wheels. Tinted windows and a towing hook. Costs me 29900 euros around 26.010£
I will receive the car 21 may

Hi all,

Thought I could share a couple of photos of my (wife's) MG ZS EV, which has been lightly modified (initially by @shikoku14 ) with tints all round, and now by myself with the addition of some new wheels and tyres.

The original wheel specifications from MG are 17" X 7", ET41, with 215/50R17 tyres.
The wheel PCD is 5x112mm (same as Audi/VW/Mercedes etc), with a centre bore of 56.1mm

I decided to get a set of slightly larger diameter (18") wheels, with a wider fitment (8.5" wide), and a slightly wider offset (ET35), which means that compared to normal, the wheel edge sits around 1" further towards the arch of the car, and 0.5" closer towards the suspension turret.

I got the wheels off eBay (bit of a bargain, they came with a set of nearly new Michelin CrossClimate tyres, unfortunately they were the wrong tyre size to fit the MG, but cost £299 for the set!).

Tyres removed (and up for sale!), I then got some Nexen N'Fera SU1 tyres (good reviews, and quite competitively priced) in a 235/45R18 size. This is a bit taller than the standard tyre (closer in diameter to the 215/55R17 which MG now fit on the ZS EV in India), giving 11mm additional ride height.

I think that they fill the arches better than the original wheel and tyre combination, and make the car look a bit better in terms of stance.

Let me know what you think!

Nice 😎

Little advise please
i bought the car almost new from the dealer
the previous owner stopped his lease contract after 1100km
I got a sweet deal. The car has 18” wheels and nice tinted windows and I negotiated a towing hook for some small trips to the trash or the local woodshop. with a towingbox.
but now my question. I want to replace my summer tires with all seasons
and I want to put on higher tires for a more solid view.
my tires are 215/45 R 18 Y XL
How high can go?

You can go for 225/45r18, 235/45R18, or 245/40R18, although the 245 might be a little wide and cause tramlining with a lack of steering feel.
