Boot operation MG ES

MG ES Is the boot operation totally manual and what does the key do?

My key has a symbol of boot opening on it so I guess just unlocks the boot with the alternative of doors as well.
Never used it as key fob stays in my pocket, and I just press release on tailgate manually.

The key will unlock the boot, but it has to be opened by hand and also closed, it is not powered opening and closing
