Ceramic Coating

Anyone else considering ceramic coating their IM5?
My previous MG4, which I'd had ceramic coated, was handed back to the bank at the end of the three year PCP period. The vehicle examiner who came to collect it, told me that he assumed from it's condition that it was new and unused. That convinced me to get the IM5 treated. I decided to get the glass and interior treated as well.
Buffs up well, doesn't it . Of course s*&t happens - on the way home a quarry 8-wheeler lorry splashed mud and crap all over the front and off-side of the car . Luckily, it washed off nice and easily!

I have to thank Andy at ABC Detailing (Thornbury, near Bristol) for a great job at a good price.

Well, quite apart from the fact that I have already spent all that money, as I mentioned I chose this route because of personal, positive, experience of it on my previous car.
Just to add weight to that, a relatively near neighbour of mine had (well, still has actually) a volcano orange MG4 of similar age and colour to the car I had before and its paintwork looked distinctly flatter that that of mine. I will qualify that though, by adding that although his car was almost exactly the same age as mine, he had covered 50% more mileage.
I don't know what cleaning regime he used on his, but I have to admit, I probably only washed the car twice a year, the last time in preparation for its collection.
At the end of the day though, it's down to the individual's choice, and honest opinions from personal experience is hopefully useful.

As I said, I have had detailing done in the past. However, the results long term have always been variable. My wife’s X1 was done about 8 years ago and I think I can still see some benefits now. My 2 previous cars were detailed but although they looked great at the start any benefit was unnoticeable after a year or so. After listening to that Radio 4 programme I am reluctant to shell out £800 ish for it again.

Done mine and very happy with the outcome. They even take it back in after 4 weeks to do a full wash and check the finish has taken properly.
