Changing the MG5 display back to celsius

Can you upload that correspondence as my dealer certainly isn't aware of that option.
From Customer Service Coordinator (MG Motors), copied from my email:
Thank you for contacting MG Motor UK Ltd. and I am sorry to learn of your disappointment.

The change -Fahrenheit to centigrade is software we have had available. Unfortunately, the factory didn’t make it easy to just change from one to another etc.

Therefore, specialist equipment was required and all of the dealers within the UK shared a tool. MG Motor UK Ltd. are then responsible to send out the software, and we are then reliant on them being sent back in a timely fashion, and unfortunately, a lot of special tools have gone missing, causing the current delays that we have.

Rather than re-releasing this software, we have now told dealerships that the unit needs to be removed from the car and sent to our engineering offices. We will then complete the change and return the unit on the same day that we receive. So the process is:-
  1. You visit your MG Dealership
  2. They open a technical case with MG
  3. We give them full instructions regarding what they should do
  4. They can request a hire car for you to use whilst the unit is out of the car. At this time of year you would not be able to manage without heaters/blowers etc.
  5. Our engineer will reload the software and return the unit.
I trust that this will answer your questions, unfortunately, the unit needs to be sent to a non customer facing location and therefore I cannot offer you a visit to any particular site for this, it will need to be carried out by an MG Dealership. I will emphasise, any MG Dealership can carry out these actions.

My infotainment unit has previously been returned to Longbridge for reprogramming and the car was off the road for 17 days IIRC!

Yeah, spotted it on mine, it should just be in the settings menu as it’s a basic user/locale preference but nothing there.

This is all in line with the proposed switching back to imperial measurements... 😄

Joking aside, came across this video, not for MG5 but might be worth having a look? F⁰ display would drive me crazy...

I could get the menu up but couldn't see much English like that, I used translate on the phone but still couldn't find any way to control anything on the drive screen.

Go to settings-system.
Then in the system setting menu, making sure you here a beep from the car registering your click/press, press in the bottom left, then bottom right, then top right, then top left of the system settings area (not including the menu on the left hand side.
This will bring up the unit setting menu for the dash, change as appropriate.
👍
Can you give more detail please? When I press the magic 4 corners of the screen, I guess a bunch of random Chinese list items apart in a column on the right hand side of the screen. No option to show it in English (what the hell?) even with Google translate - nothing in here about temperature unit settings.

The infotainment computer must be sent back to MG in Longbridge by an MG dealer, e.g. Arnold Clark. For my pre facelift MG5, it took 3 or 4 days before I got the car back. I could not find a user setting in the Chinese hidden menu.
