ECM, PEU, TCM Update

The car has been experiencing issues with a loss of power and high RPMs, with no resolution from the manufacturer. There are numerous forums with consumers complaining, and no one is solving the problem. The loss of power during overtaking or in acceleration lanes on the highway is potentially dangerous. These situations occur not only on inclines but also on flat roads. There is no justification for such a problem, especially because it has happened to me while accelerating to merge onto the highway, in the acceleration lane, with enough distance from the car behind, and despite pressing the accelerator almost to the floor, the car did not accelerate. I narrowly avoided an accident and had to swerve to the shoulder to avoid a collision. Just do a search; there are several forums about this issue and related problems with loss of power. When we complain, they simply ignore us and say everything is fine. The issue is that this problem is likely to cause accidents, because if the car loses power when we are accelerating and we need it to respond, but it doesn't, where is the safety in driving? The problem is not only on hills; it also happens on flat roads, without any incline.

This “high revs is a characteristic of hybrid cars”…. hmm. I had to travel up north via train (wife needed Kona) and then while in the boarders had several days of using hire cars. I made a point of hiring 3 different hybrids and didn’t experience high revs in any of them. Neither did I ever experience acceleration problems despite being in the boarders.

MG saying it’s a characteristic of the car…. doesn’t mean it’s a good characteristic and certainly isn’t a characteristic of the hybrids I’ve driven. Just utter nonsense.

All the hybrids I drove had no problems accelerating up steep hills with zero drama.

Do you work for MG Diwat23?

I can assure you that when this happens the engine is excessively loud and there is also excessive vibration.

When it occurs I cannot accelerate above 30mph without the engine roaring and revs over 4000+, with no acceleration and I have to reduce speed immediately. The speed limit on the road is 60 and I'm struggling along at 20-30mph.
You find it strange that people who know nothing about this real problem shrug and say "what is he talking about ?"
The video shows a car going up on an incline with revs now and again hitting 3.2k rpm max.
That is pretty normal behavior for a petrol car going up an incline.
Again , I do believe you that there is a problem ! And I'm not working for MG !
It's just that this video does not explain the problems you are having to people that are uninvolved.
(now please do not go and have an accident trying to record the problem).

I have only experienced 3000rpm when going at 90 km/h, then it settles down to about 2500 .This from my experience would be normal for a manual car. The ZS is a quirky car, it takes getting used to. I am really enjoying my ZS. I do not work for MG either.
