Map Updates for MGS5

Hi

I note in the manual the Navigation says it accepts USB map updates. I had a look on google but can't find anywhere how to obtain map data files for the MGS5. There is a toolbox for some models but S5 isn't listed.

Does anyone know where / how we get updates for maps on the MGS5 EV?

I'm curious about that too. I haven't found anything either. With my old MG ZS EV, I was able to install the updates myself using a USB drive.
 
I spent several hours trying to chase this down - including downloading and having a play with the Naviextras updater utility. Nothing worked, so I reached out to Naviextras support to understand how to make it work. After several emails back and forth, explaining a MGS5 is not the same car as the MG 5, their final email is below.

I happen to have my first annual service apt next Friday with the dealer . . and I plan on asking how much they would charge to apply the update. I'll post an update when I have the cost.

Map and other content updates are now handled directly through authorized MG dealerships.

Therefore, we kindly recommend contacting your nearest authorized MG dealership for further assistance with updating your maps.

Response from my MG dealer:

I'm still waiting for a response from MG regarding the navigation update. Normally, it would come through Naviextras.com, but not yet.
This model is too new.
 
Last week I took my MGS5 to Arnold Clark for its 12 month service. While there I met the service manager and forwarded the email I had received from Naviextras support saying the map update for the MGS5 could only be purchased from the dealership. The service manager was unaware of this and could not find a SKU for the update on his parts database. So while I was in his office he sent an email to dealer support at MG HQ in the UK. Just yesterday he emailed me to say that he is still waiting on a reply, but it might be several more weeks. :-(

I suspect he will chase this . . as every dealership is quite keen on after sales revenue. I will post an update when/if I finally get an answer.

I like to have the display in dark mode all the time which renders the satnav unusable as you can't see the display so I stick to google maps.

So I emailed Gary smart mg customer service manger at HQ.his reply was this :

Map updates are now supplied by MG Motor UK Ltd. and available for you when available at your MG dealership. However, there are currently no updates to MG S5 maps and I am sorry for any disappointment caused. There is the option to use the Apple Car Play or Android Auto feature in the vehicle, and you can use installed maps on those apps, or other third party ones, which will offer you live map services.
