Hoping for some advice, my wife is just about to change her 2019 VW eGolf for a 2023 MG EV4. We've had a few issues over the years with her eGolf during overnight (cheap rate charging) with Octopus Intelligent Go in that sometimes we've found a message on the myenergi app in the morning where it states "EV is preventing charge" and a white egg timer symbol and there's been no charge added to her car. Just wondering if any MG owners have experienced any similar issues, with the MG EV4 specifically and if so, has anyone come up with a fix for this issue. Any replies are really appreciated, Mike.

I have not had that particular message during the 2 years I have had my MG4 Trophy charging with a zappi.
I have started get problems in the last month or two.
Either a complete failure a few times or only part of the charge I asked for a few more times.
I have taken to rebooting the zappi before I plug in.

Thanks for the reply and advice. Has rebooting the zappi before plugging in for charging solved the issue? Thanks, Mike.

The internet connection to my zappi seems to go down sometimes recently and rebooting fixes this. No idea what has changed as it is not my home wifi.
The zappi app shows when this happens with a triangle and a warning message.
So the rebooting solves the no charge at all problem, but not the partial charge problem necessarily.
(But it was fine last night & I didn't need to reboot zappi as there was no warning triangle.)

No issues for me either - in my 3rd year of ownership.
Assuming we are talking a Trophy (?), a practical point. A normal Octopus app charge, with the Zappi set to Eco+, has a schedule set by Octopus which changes a number of times during the night. It sometimes leads to a “We have lost control of your vehicle” message, which doesn’t seem to affect the charge I have requested.
Because of its stop/go nature, an Octopus charge is no good for a balancing charge to 100%, which needs to be continuous. So I always do a balancing charge with the schedule set on my car - Zappi set to Fast. I know seem people set a charge on the Zappi, but I have never done this.
Ensure you have no car or Zappi schedule set when doing an Octopus app charge - and vice versa.
