This has been asked before, but asking again! Has anybody managed to find any map updates for the MGS5? Been hard work trying to get any sense from MG and Naviextras.

Does anyone know how to get the map data from the vehicle to a USB?

Thanks.

I don't think the S5 uses Naviextras!

Personally, I always use Google Maps or Waze for navigation so the lack of updates for the maps of the built-in navigation system really doesn't affect or bother me.

Well the S5 isn't listed yet with Naviextras, but I'm expecting it to be in time. MG simply don't respond to anything. I'll probably end up using Google Maps

No car I've ever owned had maps worth the effort of using. I use TomTom mainly for the live traffic and speed cameras and because I'm very used to the interface etc.

There is a choice of free apps that can be used on CarPlay.

The word on the street is that:

Waze is better within the M25 (but do massively configure it to lose all the cartoon characters). It is more likely to find rat runs to save a minute or two.

Google Maps is better elsewhere in the UK and is better integrated with points of interest, which derive from Google central. It is more likely to give less fiddly routes, sticking with main roads, unless that is going to cost more than a minute or two.

Apple Maps is marginally less good for traffic but fits the ecosystem better (for example, texts appear without hiding the map.)

The only thing that I use the integrated nav for is to estimate arrival range, but I haven't used it enough to know whether it is accurate.
