Various MGS5 quirks

Hi all, to change topic slightly, apart from the roll back issue on OPD, what other quirks issues have people noticed? Out of interest, has anyone also noted the following issues with the MGS5:

1. Boot slow to open either by key or using foot underneath;

2. Auto head lamp feature poor, results in cars flashing multiple times even on a short journey, sometimes switches on main beam in the face of oncoming traffic. My partner’s Vauxhall Mokka (9 years old) has a much better and reliable version;

3. Wireless charger (trophy) not particularly powerful very slow trickle charge;

4. Intelligent Cruise Assist - not that trustworthy, ok on a really straight road like a motorway with clear dividing lines, but can sometimes move out of lane / hit the side of the road including the curb and struggles if the road markings are even a little faded;

5. Whilst the interior I think is nice and an improvement on previous models, some of the cheap plastic gets scratched easily with minimal use in a short period of time;

6. Sound system basic not the best quality.

Not raising these issues to whinge or do the car down as still pleased with the purchase overall (particularly taking account of the cost). Just interested to know the view of others.

If you find the autopilot not very good then get it checked. Mine is really solid and feels confident and safe.

1. It is but at least it gives you time to stop it if you've parked too close to a wall etc. and it doesn't hurt if it catches you.

2. Yes there are better systems. I've turned off the auto main beam and have gone back to manually turning them on and off.

3. Wireless charging can make the phone battery warm and faster charging can seriously shorten the life of the phone's battery.

4. I'm not brave enough to let the car steer at 10 mph never mind 70 mph.

5. I've not noticed any scratches. Mind you I don't have children and only carry 2 well behaved greyhounds in a well lined boot.

6. The sound system needs setting up properly. Have a look at this video and see if it improves the sound quality for you.

The MGS5 only has rear wheel drive. Snow mode reduces the power to the back wheels so it's less easy to spin them and removes the regen so when you take your foot off the accelerator the car doesn't lock the back wheels.

Beware OPD is not available in Snow mode.

Removes regen? Isn't set to 1, the lowest level?

I personally have quite a different experience with regen in the snow. Currently, we have a snow covering of 20 cm's. Using the brakes even at low speeds causes ABS to step in. That is ok.
But with regen 3 I gently reduce the speed of the car with just less throttle. Works fine and no knocking of ABS needed.

I can only report on how I've found the MGS5 behaves. It might reduce it to regen 1 but I was looking where I was going, not at the instrument panel. I can't remember how my MG4 behaved but as this is the MGS5 forum it doesn't matter.

EDIT: Apologies. The car goes into regen 1 in snow mode

I tested the S5 last Saturday. Same as Mg4. Snow mode has Regen 1 as default.
