You'd expect so, but MG aren't exactly known for 'doing the right thing'.

It would appear not.

Euro NCAP said it had never witnessed a failure of this kind in its 28 years of crash testing.

"MG has promised to tweak the airbag in October, Euro NCAP said. However, the seat and airbag changes won't be applied to 3s that have already been delivered to customers since the model's launch last year"

I purchased a 2025 1.5 manual just 3 weeks ago, I would never hand bought it had I known about this serious issue,
I intend to invoke my short term right to reject.

Do we know is if this applies to the 2005 MG3 manual? I’m thinking it probably does.

I believe it only applies to the mg3 model from 2024 onwards. Not the older model.

I think you will find it's not just the hybrid, it's the petrol equivalent also from 2024 onwards it's the same car minus the hybrid system.

It's an absolute shocker by MG UK not doing a recall on the models already out there on a failure never seen by ncap before in 28 yrs of testing.

Insurance companies could have a field day with this if people get into crashes and get injured, they look for any excuse not to pay out as it is

Do they know for sure it was a design defect and not a manufacturing/material problem specific to the car under test?
