With the horrendous weather we’re having currently, I’m forever putting MG3 hybrid into the garage and parking with wet brakes. Consequently, every time I restart the car my brakes pads have stuck to the discs and it’s a bit disconcerting hearing, and feeling, them disengaging. Is there a way to park up without leaving the parking brake engaged. I’ve tried various combinations but whenever I turn off the power my parking brake light always illuminates.

I’ve tried that, but when I switch the power off the EPB comes on.
I had the same problem. When you park up
select N, depress the footbrake and hold down the parkbrake button as you switch off. The EPB and red light will stay off. The gearbox will prevent movement with the engine off. You can set and release the EPB by moving the button up and down when the footbrake is applied.

I’ll try that tomorrow, it’s bound to be raining. The garage is level so I don’t anticipate any movement.
