Are we heading for subscription driving with some car manufacturers? this is about BMW's 530e PHEV, I was amazed reading about a chap who was driving his 530e at night & wanted to try the high beam assist function & when he pressed the button he was presented with a message on screen asking for £179 to activate it

Yes - I think that’s where we are heading. Tesla offer upgrades via the in-car software and app e.g upgraded auto-pilot so I’m not surprised others will follow. Over the air updates will enable this.
