Project OBD2 - Mobile App v1.2.1 and later

Just a note about battery voltage. Unless the car is at 100% state of charge with no load on at all they are meaningless. The only figures you can use to compare are when it is at 100%.

Strange as the car has finished charging and had also equalised so not sure why its showing 93%

The difference is the top buffer
So it's normal, nothing to worry about if 93-4% on the new update. Prior to that about 96-7%

This ties in with what the OVMS guys were thinking plus what @MilesperkWh also said a while back.

First reading and OBDII device used; will upload data with 100% charge later in the week. Bought car end of December 2020, driven 500 miles, never used rapid charger, only used fast 7 KWH charger. BMS update on 25/01/2021.Done only one equalisation since, got 449V. How data compare with other cars of the similar age and mileage?

As I mentioned above the data is pretty meaningless if you are not at 100% SoC as that is the only figure we can use to compare.

Currently have the car on charge, should be done in a few hours (Long Equalisation BMS) I'll do another data dump when it's done :)

Thanks Mike, will come back with figures with 100% SoC.

Originally we were all focused on identifying the software versions, which is the data we were collecting.
Now looking at & collecting the SoC % data, we do indeed need it from cars that are definitely 100% charged & balanced and when the car is not under any load (don't depress brake pedal when turning on)

Added to the spreadsheet thanks.
Is yours Exclusive or Excite model?

Can you see if you can get a better reading for the HVAC firmware version? For some reason (I assume depends on the obd2 dongle) some items aren't always complete properly.

Car was returned on Thursday after 2 weeks at the dealer in Norway, the updated BMS software was installed and then they carried out balancing. As you see in the screenshot voltage is now 449.
On eco I am seeing max range with heating "Off" of 284km (178 miles). I charged to 100% and it balanced for 4 hours with a draw of 0.3kW. After showing 100% and charging complete it added 1kW which is much less than before the update, where I saw 2.2kW added when balancing.

This is the screen displayed in the ZS EV app that show the Battery Voltage and SOC% and confirms there is approx. 6% that is being held back as a top and bottom buffer. After the car displayed Charging Complete and 100% SOC the app showed an SOC of 93% After balancing this increased to 93.8% (as shown below), but the estimated range didn't change. After the latest updates I have noticed there is regen even if the SOC shows 100%. When the car was collected they told me the imbalance was 23mv. So will be interesting to see if this goes down after more charging sessions. The BMS version that is being displayed in the app is 0210622EU1

Hope this helps us get a better understanding of effect of the latest BMS update.

I wonder if the way the charging works is that it charges to X (Voltage or SoC%) amount (a nice round 93%), Then it does balancing to what ever that ends up producing.

I think you all know I love a good spreadsheet for analysis!
So I'm logging the data to do with Volts and SoC% at FULL Charge.
I'm going to be noting mine from the App (battery tab) after each time the car is fully charged, to build up a good picture.
Feel free to do yours too! Just make sure the car is under no load (don't press brake pedal), I also reset the Acc Trip each time and note the Normal3 GOM.
:)

[Updated 10/3/2021]

BMS (15/1):
Maximum Charge 449.75V 93.2%
Minimum Charge 371V 0.5%
Voltage range available 78.75Volts.
SoC range available 92.7%.

My device arrived a few minutes ago.
Read the firmware.
Currently have around 50% charge which is consistent with the GOM and the bar display.

Car (excite) registered August 2020. Has 15 jan BMS but had the duff one for a few weeks.

Oh darn, that blows the A-C HVAC with the excite/exclusive idea out the window

Oh no you're right!
What on earth is that about then, we'll have to ask the person who had the B version to rack their brains about what could be different.

Have my car booked in for updates on Thursday, so will be interested to see what (if any) difference it makes. I'll be checking anyway once it's done to make sure things have changed, haha. Knowledge is a dangerous thing 🤣

It can be - but not always. You know more than the dealer now.
