When returning to our airport parked S5 after several weeks away, there were a few abnormal displays which I hadn't seen before.

1/ "e call system fault consult handbook" on the drivers screen, followed by 2/ "When safe unlock tour phone to start Android Auto" on the infotainment screen.

3/ probably a totally separate issue, but one or other of the annoying steering wheel nudges occurs if I get too close to white lines whilst driving, despite me turning everything to off!

I popped into our excellent local MG dealership and booked in for a look and probable reset of the relevant software, whilst there I spoke to our lovely sales lady Abi whilst having a kite at the S6 in the showroom, she told me MG had done an OTA update during the period we were away (experimenting by the sound of it) and then withdrew it, Abi wasn't too sure on detail, has anyone else experienced similar? or does anyone know anything about this mysterious update and subsequent withdrawal?

Whether it happened at all I have no idea and may be nothing to do with my very small but annoying problem, which I'm sure will be easy to resolve.

BTW, my current MPU software version is SWI128-29176-1100R25.

I had the e call system fault when I left mine for a few weeks too. After a week or so it went away.

HaHa, reminds me of self amalgamating tape, self healing electronics, Amazing!!

I get "e call system fault consult handbook" reasonably often. Not sure but cold weather could be a common thing with it. Disappears after the first start of the day.

I think it's quite common in low signal areas.
Yes I reckon that's true @Alb , it was while sat in my garage, but not seen it before and I've sat in the garage fiddling with all the programmable stuff many times.

Have a read of this thread - MG S5 Apple Carplay/UI freezing | MG MGS5 EV Forum My guess is that this is the 'over the air update' that she was referring to. The belief is that there was no OTA update but the problem was due to a remote server problem. All S5 cars had a problem for a few days.

Update & happy 👍.. I've sorted out all my abnormal screen messages and lane keep tugging at the steering wheel, I did a "factory reset"
Everything is working as intended again, it takes a few minutes to complete and any stored settings, like MG pilot need to be reset.
I cancelled the visit to the dealership in a couple of weeks. 😀👍😂

This^^

Used to get it in my MG5 regular as clockwork on my trips to Brighton from HR2 on the A31 as I was turning off (or, on the way back, turning onto) the Hog's Back to head towards Godalming. Bit of a shock to see the error the first time.

But here's the weird/spooky (maybe!) thing... The day my MG5 got written off I had the message near to home. So I pulled in and turned the car off and on again to clear the message. Now, if that stop hadn't have happened I'd have been past the semi-blind bend where I was greeted by the Discovery Sport on the wrong side of the road that then ploughed into my stationary pride and joy.

So best ignore the message! Mind you, the S6 is way better than the MG5 (which I'd still be happily driving BTW). <joking>Perhaps my MG5 was telling me it was time for a new car.</joking>

Had the same problem. The central nav display crashed 3 times within a space of 10mins. Dealer did a factory reset which fixed that. Still get the ecall fault though. Appears to sort it self out after a while but I am used to such quirks as this is my 3rd MG but the best one so far.

I'm pretty much the same, Factory Reset is easily done yourself and does away with the trip to the dealership, but I guess it's worth reporting, otherwise MG UK may think everything is OK when it's not. You still need to reset all the beings and bongs either way, unless they have a way to save the settings.
My Samsung S24 Ultra still doesn't connect every time, can't be bothered to take it in just for that, I seldom use Android Auto, except on an occasional long trip, it's easy to connect if it refuses.
