Roof rack for MG4

I have read mixed reports some saying it’s not designed for a roof box and some saying you can.

Has anyone put a roof rack on their MG4 yet?

In the UK the MG4 is not certified for a roof box, but I think some EU countries have it as an option.

Unfortunately, as siteguru says, the car hasn't been certified for a roof rack in the UK so fitting one would invalidate your insurance.

Did a mental size up - Think the rear wheel would be hanging too low on re bumper ?

Yes probably too low I’ll try to get some pics next time I use mine on the roof. Have friends with them on Aston martins, Audi Tt etc all have no issues

Because MG never got the car certified for any roof loading.

I believe it is just down for MG to apply to have it certified for a roof rack in the UK. A similar thing happened with the MG5, which despite having roof rails was not approved to use them in the UK for ages.

Thule have two roofbar mounting kits for the MG4, and at least 2 bar systems that fit (Wingbar Evo and Wingbar Edge) as far as I can find on Thule homepage here in Norway.

It seem this is the same kit for the rest of the world where Thule is sold too.

Thule UK list similar - MG UK say NAH .. So why Do Thule advertise them - I mean if you didnt research and just went into say Halfords and ordered via there the Thule bits you could be non the wiser ....
