Satnav update

Updates used to be available for download from Naviextras but that is no longer the case. They now have to be done by the dealer. My car is due its first service in the next month so I'll see then if they do provide a map update.

Right mines due in December I'll see what they say then,I had a Citroen c3 aircross before and dealer wouldn't do it because of gdpr
 
This is part of an email I got from Naviextras. I emailed them when I had problems getting into the updates on their app.

"We would like to inform you that, as requested by the manufacturer of your navigation system, your navigation device model is not supported by the Naviextras map update solution anymore.


Map and other content updates are now handled directly through authorized MG dealerships. Therefore, we recommend contacting your nearest authorized MG dealership for further assistance with updating your maps."

I recieved the same email from naviextras saying they no longer support. I have contacted my main dealer and also MG customer service to be informed that there are currently no more map updates available and map development has ceased for the new MG 3.

Seems to me the dealers want your custom ,wave goodbye when you drive out of showroom and that's it, like the Fleetwood Mac song " you can go your own way "
 
Hi everyone don't know if this has been posted before but I've had my mg3 hybrid 9 months,is sat nav update free and do the dealership do it thanks
My MG3 Hybrid trophy has just had its first service at 5500mls.

On checking the Sat Nav software version on its return it has not changed it's still showing the same version as when I purchased it 12 months ago as 9.35.2.29158 - Feb19 2024 - Map Ver 2023 Q2 here EU&UK.

Obviously the delear has not udated it. Whether they should or could have done I have no idea! Nor have I any suggestions as to how the onboard maps can be updated if I needed to. Fortunately I always use Android Auto which provides far better and constant road condition updates along any route I take so the MG nav is pretty useless.
 
I've just booked my car in for its first service. I asked my dealer about updating the map but he said they don't deal with them. He advised me to contact MG Customer Service.

I've just sent them an email, so it'll be interesting to see what they come up with. At the end of the day the car was sold with free updates for 7 years!
 
MG UK will tell you (and I have the emails to prove this) that MG UK are NOT part of MG Europe, that they do NOT give free map updates here, that you can pay your dealer about £154 to apply the latest map but that is between you and your dealer, that you can NOT use an apple computer to download the latest map, that you CAN use an apple computer to download the latest update, that they recommend you use a sat nav like Google maps or Waze which are better than the supplied MG system. That there is nothing they can do for you and that the matter is, in their view, closed. Pointing out facts like MG UK and MG Europe were merged in 2022 and are headed up by the same CEO are totally ignored and that no matter what you were told when you purchased you new car about 5 year free map updates - prove it!
I have to say I love the car but I am totally unimpressed by the UK customer service team.
