Setting radio to start automatically on unlocking and Turn Off when in Park

Is this an MG peculiarity?
Previous cars played the radio as soon as we started the car.
Now we have to press the station icon to play

When previously we set the parking brake, opening the drivers door turned the radio Off
Now we have to lock the car to turn the radio off

Now, not a tragedy, but I haven't found a way to reset to do what we "expect"

Is there an easy way to set these preferences?

one of those things where you like it one way and someone else the other... Mine goes on Android Auto and plays Spotify when I get in because that's the last music source that was playing. I'll check with the radio but I'm pretty sure it starts as soon as I get in if the radio was the last thing I listened to...
I don't think you can set it to mute on door opening but you can pres "pause" to stop it instead of having to turn the car off

Exactly same as mine, radio is on pause when car starts and have to press play button to start the radio. Sometimes when pressed play it doesn’t even respond possibly due to low reception quality of DAB. The DAB reception on this car is really rubbish.

My only real peeve with this is - if I park on my drive at home during the day, I often don't lock the car as I don't need to. Then, once I am within range of it with my phone in my pocket, Android Auto starts up and it's playing music while just sat there. I don't understand why it needs to do that.
Other than that - fine car!

Hi Folks,

I've had my new HS for a month.
I've noticed that when I turn the ignition on ready for a trip.
I'm having to press play on the infotainment screen. Otherwise the radio remains silent.
Is that normal?

Sorry - I did try a Search before posting, but only in S6 forum - I didn't think it applied on other Fora. I've since found yours and posted a Like But neither one seems to have a way to do it in the Settings! Big ol' thumb being applied as necessary.....
Now I find all these!
I plead the newbie defence......

There's absolutely no need for an apology Kev.
I hope my input proves that it's a fairly wide spread (first world) issue.

I posted about the exact same thing a few days ago

Someone posted about the old HS doing the opposite. I had the old HS and indeed the radio starts playing as soon as ignition on. At the time some people were complaining about that especially when you listened to CarPlay with the volume at very high but when you start the car the next time it goes to radio but play at that same very high volume as before and it blows your ear drums off before you can quickly turn the volume back down.

Either way nobody wins.

Yeah, I get all that, but isn't that something that SHOULD be available in Settings?
As someone previously said "whichever way it's SET won't suit all" so why lump ONE setting for all?
