You can't programme a function to the middle button on the right (or left) of the steering wheel. Press it (so the blue highlight appears on the right of the driver display), select which odometer you wish to reset (Start, Charge, Accumulated) and then long-press the right joystick to reset.

UK households tend to have single phase electrics. 3 Phase electrics are more common in the EU. Looks like SAIC realised that some UK cars were not actually to the published UK spec and decided to change so that all future UK cars have 7kW charging as per original spec.
We've got 22kW and 11kW chargers outside the homes too though so I would've thought they'd keep it in.
Agreed, mostly public chargers but some on new build properties maybe. I would suggest the majority of charging in the UK is completed at home on single phase electrics where there may be financial savings compared to the more powerful and expensive public chargers which are primarily used en route.
