Hi all,

I've had my MG S5 EV for a week, has anyone tried sideloading apps onto the car? Just wanting to see if I can sideload a ln Android app on it for movie purposes :sneaky:

The car only has 1GB of data a month so streaming a movie will soon eat up that allowance.
Have you tried using Android Auto or Apple Car Play to play your movie?

If you want to watch movies, load them on a USB C drive and use one of the sockets in the arm rest, you can then watch them while you charge. Keeps me entertained if i need to sit in the car. You can also use your hotspot to use the YouTube app in the car, again, handy if sitting charging.

So, should I be able to stream the car through the Starlink?

I really get so confused between the different connectivity options. If I stream the car into Starlink, and have a hotspot in the car, will my iPhone route to Starlink if attached to the car?

Be careful with sideloading. Many infotainment systems have locked Android versions, so installing apps could cause problems or void your warranty. Using Android Auto or screen casting from your phone is safer and works well for movies.

Starlink will have a dedicated router which you can connect to, just like at home, your car and phone would both connect via wifi to that for internet. You can't stream the car in to Starlink as there is nothing to stream from. Its the other way around...Starlink is in effect your hotspot instead of the phone.
Starlink will be able to handle many devices, if its a Gen 3 Starlink it will allow 235 devices to be connect for internet access at any one time.

I understand that, but in another thread I have been discussing the apparent inability to connect the phone to Starlink via WiFi and to the car via Bluetooth. I was hoping that I could introduce the middle man.
