I have twice now had a red alert message with a continuous bonging tone telling me to 'Take Control of the Vehicle'. At first I thought this was related to driver alert / fatigue monitoring so I have turned off these on my MG Pilot custom settings. However this morning same thing on an A road. The alert came on shortly after LKA incorrectly pulled the car to the left and I corrected it pulling back on the wheel. Conditions were wet with fairly heavy rain.

Has anyone else had this annoying alert, the car seems to brake when it comes on too which is not very safe. I have now disabled ELK and set LKA to alert only on lowest setting and will monitor to see if it happens again.

Car Play has now stopped working altogether and won't connect wireless or cable, the car gave me a flurry of warning about safety systems the other night and left them disabled for 2-3 miles before appearing to clear themselves and I have had 2 phantom braking experiences using Adaptive Cruise Control. I knew MG4 early vehicles had some safety system issues but kind of hoped the MGS5 would have sorted it by now.

Going back to dealer in a week for 2nd time to try and update the software but if they fail to update again this time they can keep the car as I will definitely reject it as defective.

Before you go back to the dealer disconnect the 12V battery for a couple of minutes. You'll need a 10mm spanner.

The steering wheel will have to be turned from lock to lock a couple of times after reconnecting and the car driven for a couple of miles to clear all the fault notifications.

It might not cure your problems but it will do a hard reboot of all the systems and you've got nothing to lose.

Thanks. It’s booked in anyway as it refuses to take the R25 upgrade for the infotainment. This is the 2nd attempt as they have already had it 4 days last week. I suspect I have a lemon to be honest and reported all this within 30 days of collecting so may need to pull the trigger if it isn’t fixed next week.

The only thing I can think of for this is report is the cruise control has been in use and was in standby with no speed set so showing white icons.

There are no errors showing on car scanner in the logs but don’t know how accurate that is.

That suggests there is a problem with either the dealer not applying the updates in the right order or a problem with MG's servers.

Good luck with the next attempt by the dealer as it's a good car when the software does work.

I know it is a good car to drive, it is responsive, has good braking and handles really well. It just frustrating with all these blasted software issues....Car Play is a deal breaker for me so they have to get that working reliably or it will be a return. I have it for another week before it goes in so will be trying to detune the driver assistance stuff and see if I can get it to the point where it behaves better. I am sure some of the issues I am experiencing are just me adjusting to MG from Hyundai.

Appreciate the feedback may give the reset a try too this week if it stops raining!
