MG3 Hybrid+
I bought this a MG3 hybrid+ brand new in November, but I am rapidly becoming frustrated.

1) DAB Radio on has about 6 stations, even then, they cut in and out.
2) MG iSmart App, 3-4 times when it's been cold, I've tried to warm the car up remotely, despite being just 38 yards away, it can't find the car or it's in a deep sleep. (Whatever "Deep sleep" means)
3) Anytime there is frost, camera/cruise control are so very intermittent.
4) -2 today, got in the car to warm it up/defrost - the dashboard was completely blanked out - turns out this is a common problem with firmware in freezing conditions. -2 is hardly the arctic.
5) Auto gearbox / engine seem to be strangers when going up a hill. Engine revs so much,m crying out for it to change gear.

Anyone else had all of these?

I have been thinking about getting one for about six months, posts like these are the reason I am hesitating.

I have spent about five hours driving one (zipcar) and it was great, although I did mostly drive it in the summer. I last drove it in October in the rain and I got a couple of warnings about the cruise control, I assume due to the weather.

I have not driven it up any hills, this was one of my main concerns about the car. The gearbox mostly seems OK when driving normally, but it does feel a bit uncomposed when you put your foot down, as if the car doesn't really know what gear to be in.

How the car reacted in winter is a big concern, how does the cold weather affect the hybrid battery and does the engine kick in to warm the cabin?

I have seen pre registered Trophy models for £15,900 which seems crazy value for money, but it sounds like you would be hesitant to recommend the car after owning one for a couple of months?

My current 14 year old car passed it's MOT on Saturday with just advisories for tyres. The idea is I replace it with the MG3 and drive it for the next 15 years or so. My concern is swapping a car that owes me nothing for one that costs me £16K, has high servicing costs and potentially gives me grief.

I came from a 13 plate Fiat Punto, it had 5 miles on it when picked it up and 125k on it when I traded it in.

I installed an Alpine DAB stereo on that, never had any issues, that picked up signal from a transmitter on the front windscreen.

To be fair, I need to give the garage a chance to sort it, my problem is as a former mechanic / technician, I just feel a car with less than 1000 miles on it shouldn’t have issues like this so early on in ownership.

Like anything though, you only find these things out after you’ve had it a while.

On the plus side, I don’t have to put a damp trap in the car at winter like I did with the Punto (last 4 years of ownership to be fair🤣)

Mine now has 26,000 km on it and I'm still very happy with it. The Is-Smart app works perfectly; it's currently between -5° and -10°C and it's very nice to be able to preheat the cabin and seats. Everything works perfectly, I haven't had any problems at all so far. I live in a hilly region and have no problems going uphill.
Regarding DAB reception, it all depends on the area, whether it is covered or not, here not everywhere is covered yet so I prefer FM. But in covered areas, DAB work very well.
As for the cameras, if they are dirty or frosted it is normal that this affects the driving aids, it was exactly the same on my previous car (Opel Astra).
