Hi everyone,
I hope to get ourS6 in about 6 weeks and will probably buy some extra wheels with winter tyres. I found out that the wheel size can really add up some milage and comfort to the car, so I am looking to find some 18" wheels. The problem is, I can't find the wheel size of the 20" anywhere. Did anyone allready tried 18"or bought an extra set?

Just wandering, would it be much cheaper and easier just getting 20 inch winter tyres and swap them for the few months when you need them? Are you going for all wheel drive and want 4 sets of wheels? Maybe you could get a good deal from the dealer to buy 19" wheels for SE (basic) model?

Maybe. But after a few years I have an extra set of wheels with the same costs. I also want to know the difference in milage between 20" and 18" (or 19").

Do you know that or do you think it's minimal. I know for other brands it can make up to 10-15%.

For example explains the difference. Most articles point out the big change in milage tested with a BMW. Do Your Wheels Matter? How Wheel Size and Style Affect EV Range

I don't think 18" will fit because of the brakes and calipers. I wanted 19" for the winter, but got 20"😡. Just have to live with that. 19" will give you slightly more milage, but not really significant. I'd guess 15-25 km (10-17 miles) and slightly better acceleration.

It also depends on what type of rims you get. If you where to compare the original 20" with the aero trim with some normal 19", I actually think the original will get better milage because of the aero trim.

you have to be careful, MG or your car insurance could see it as modifications and that could invalidate your insurance or car warranty if they say that caused some kind of damage ...
also, changing wheel size and tyre size may not support the car as the original was intended, there is a reason why MG went for those sizes ...

Lol! No. In All nordic contries you get two sets of wheels. And you can use whatever you want, as long as it's got the same or better specification.

The tyre size of the 20s (245/50R20) are quite peculiar, and this size is generally shared with some Jaguars and nothing much else. I was researching for some all season tyres and there is really not much choice out there with these size tyres.

if numbers mean anything, here is the comparison for MG recommended wheels and tyres:

That's good information, but I don't know if the MG is using a speedometer and GPS or just a speedometer. Also, if I am correct, you have a version with 19" in the UK. We don't have those in the Netherlands. I wonder if MG uses other firmware / speedometers for these cars.

Perhaps starting to over think it to much.
Just checked, and an MGS6 has 245/50/20 on a 7.5 x 20 wheel. Or
235/55/19 on a 7.5 x 19 wheel. Does not list 18s for the S6. It's not gonna make a massive difference in range, a bit perhaps, but nowt to worry about. 🙂👍
