Which fuse, dash cam installation on MGS5.

I'm trying to research fitting a new dash cam on my yet to be delivered S5, I've ordered a Viofo 229 Plus (best quality vs cost) an HK4 Type C hardwire fitting kit, some 5 am
MGS5 Information & Reviews
p 3pin piggy back fuses and some spare fuses, plus a suitable 256GB high endurance micro SD micro SD card.
So far all is good, looking at the manual, I can see quite a few unused fuse positions.
Are all or any ok for use?
Any guidance will be appreciated, I used the cigarette lighter on my MG4 (Redtiger) installation but wanted to make use of the parking mode on the new Viofo, requiring a permanent live feed and probably fitting an inline switch somewhere in the live feed in case of problems, or leaving the car for extended periods ie airport car parks.

Forgive me if I am missing somehting but is there a reason you are not using the usb A source behind the rear view mirror? It works well for my nextbase and powers up / donw etc as needed. I don;t use it in any kind of sentry mode though

Hi there cd1yat,
The reason for not using the nearby USB-A port is because that socket, almost certainly doesn't have a permanent live connection and becomes dead when the ignition is turned off, (not got the car until we return from holiday mid September so cannot check it)
But to get coverage of 24/7 Parking Monitoring (which is a feature of higher-end dash cameras and quite possibly your Nextbase, although the Nextbase on our Tucson does not) from a bump or somebody trying to steal the car, it needs a permanent power connection.
I'd love it for simplicity if I can use the USB-A socket, but I fear it's not going to be.

You're right it doesn't have full time live. If you look down a few posts there's one where guys are talking about fitting fuse splitters to do the job you want.

Yes thanks, I've already ordered similar 3 pin fuses, the new dash cam with hardwire kit, and a micro SD card, hopefully will be waiting for me when we eventually get home.
Picking up the car car, pre registered, brand new MGS5 Trophy in Silver on 16th September, hopefully. 🤞🤞

Makes perfect sense, good luck finding a solution
