Hi all
Just got my car back from MK TINTS Barnsley
Had front windows done with the lightest tint they do and the rear windows and sun strip in limo tint
£240 all windows and sun strip
A few photos below the last one showing the difference of front and rear side windows from inside

Nice! I have mine done but the guy said anything they do on the front would invalidate insurance as it was illegal to tint the fronts, I left the fronts alone but wanted them done really for summer sun on those two days in june.

Ye I was told to leave the front alone, even a small strip isn't now legal unless manufacturer factory fitted.

Couldn't they just do a UV protection film on the fronts with little or no tint ?

That is what I asked for the lightest tint in the front
As you can see from photos there’s not much tint to the front windows
You can barely notice it at all when sat in the car even at night

Somebody will know, but I always thought that the windscreen could be tinted (and is by many manufactures') but must transmit 75% of light and the front sides must transmit 70% of light? other glass can be tinted any level? I may be well out of date though.

They told me cars come with a certain amount of tint/uv protection so anything you put on means it's adding to that and making it illegal. That was global tint.
Maybe he just couldn't be bothered.

Makes sense really as if its got tint already then adding even the lowest standard tint could push it into illegal territory. But you think there would be tints of lower strength to enable additional tinting to the legal limit?

Long time lurker here but thought I should clarify some points made.

There is a legal limit to tinting the windscreen and front side windows. Most manufacturers for a good number of years have tinted both to this limit, so adding additional tint will push you over the limit and be illegal. However the MG5 has zero tints applied to the side glass, it's completely clear. Global tint are fully aware and will tint front sides for you upon request. There are other threads on the forum confirming this.

Its the first job in my list when my 5LR finally shows up somewhen in the middle of March (not december as I was told at point of order in Sept)
