There is a complex algorithm that IT specialists have to memorise and use frequently with any software or harware system. It's called SIOAOA. Thats pronounced "sioaoa" and stands for :-
Switch it Off and On Again.
Now seriously most phones have probably never been fully turned off during there entire customer ownership. They might have been "Restarted" but that seldom clears the cache from memory. I have had problems that have been resolved by just turning off the phone completely for a few minutes and then turning it back on. You will know its doing something different as all apps will be checked and optimised just like when the operating system is upgraded.
I have had similar problems as mentioned here with MG iSmart and the process I go through is (in order of pain) :-
- Restart the MG iSmart app
- Temporarily turn off WiFi and use 4G if that gives a better signal.
- Just wait for a while and try again 30 minutes upwards. If none of these work.
- Turn the phone off and back on again. If none of these work then
- Log off in the MG iSmart app and log back in. (I presume you have saved the password etc.
- Lastly reconnect the phone to the car (this can be a real faff and the reason I try to avoid it).
- Abandon all hope and contact your dealer. (the good ones will be able to check with MG and detach your phone for reconection, or find another solution that works).
Fortunately I have never had to contact my dealer on this issue usually resolving any problems by step 4. Unfortunately, in my experience software and hardware issues are now very common across all modern ICE and EV cars simply because of the complexity.
