My theory about a forum full of geriatrics is holding up quite well
On an EV News Daily podcast I heard today (I'm about 2 weeks behind), I heard that in Korea, the decade of driver that bought the most EVs was the 50s. I think next was the 40s, then the 60s. So much for mainly the young embracing new technology.

What spurred this post was a very loud ICE car racing away in the background. Quite likely a young driver, whose brains aren't fully formed yet :). I realised that EVs would likely not appeal to that market segment (young hoons), even though EVs are generally quicker than most ICE cars. What's the point of being the quickest if nobody else in the whole suburb knows about it? 🔊🏁🏎️ ;)

Some motorbikes are guilty of this crime, however they are produced this way !.
Some of the Harleys have a straight through pipe.
There is a guy who lives on the opposite side of our small village, I can hear him coming from half a mile away !.
The noise level is terrible 😢.
All noise and no go !.
Why do they have to sound SO loud.

You don't have to sit exclusively in one camp or the other.
I bought the MG as a daily use car because there are umpteen very good reasons for doing so. It's comfortable and even rewarding but it is definitely not exciting, and I do still like to be excited from time to time when I drive.
Fortunately my previous car delivers all of the driving excitement I need so will remain in the garage to be taken out as and when I see fit :devilish:

You're only as old as you feel... which is concerning, given the noises my body was making this morning

There's a theory amongst some bikers that "loud pipes save lives". It's not a theory I go along with because in all my years, not just of biking, but just in general, loud pipes only let people know you've passed them. They do bugger all sound projection forwards, but loads out the back. Unless it's a Hog, in which case, the whole engine is trying to shake itself to bits, and the noise goes in all directions 🤣

Who the hell wants to hear all that racket at 6.30am in the morning, when somebody is setting off for work !.
It’s total madness and even more inconsiderate to other folks.
It’s that loud, it starts dogs barking also.
I have owned a number of small and large motorbikes over the years, but they where never that noisy !.

I would argue that they are less likely to be able to afford the premium of an electric car (as well as increasingly not bothering with cars at all).

Nope - after market stuff, which admittedly might come from the supplying dealer, otherwise the new bike wouldn't meet the various regs. I do agree with you though. I'm a life long biker - until late last year - and whilst I've only had one bike with a very fruity exhaust* (and another with a not-so-fruity one), the really loud ones pi$$ me off no end. There's a bell end who lives nearby who has a Triumph classic looking thing (it's modern) and it's so loud when he goes past, I keep meaning to take his reg. number and report it. Yes, it's that loud and also scares my dog witless. I keep forgetting though as I usually get tied up trying to keep the dog under control. Also, in the last week, some tosser on a 2T has been caning it up our road late at night. Now, although I'm heading in to middle age, I do like a nice sounding, throaty bike sound but these a-holes are really taking the biscuit.

Never believed loud bikes save lives, in fact a recent study has proven otherwise. When they go electric, it'll be the end of all this nonsense!

Oh dear. I do sound like an old fart, don't I? :(

*Single cylinder with an open race pipe and open airbox, all official performance parts. A nice little tune-up that liberated some horses and some noise. Yes it was loud, but I was sensible with it (as I could be), keeping off the power in populated areas.

Yep - I really like the Zero FXS. Expensive for what it is, but not stupidly expensive like a lot of electric bikes, and performance and looks wise very similar to the single cylinder bike I was talking about earlier (KTM 690 SMC).

Now at 60 and needed to replace ICE car, plus add and another EV to our I Pace
a nice car at a very nice price.

Age is just a number.
Yeah your right !.
The larger the number, the slower you get !.
You know when you are getting old, when you start making that funny “Grut” as you get up from a chair 🪑!.
And it not caused by excess wind, but that will come as well 🤣.
It just starts to happens one day, when you are least expect it.
The “Grut” noise, not the wind 💨.
But now I think about it ? - No leave it !.
A little like the time in your life, when you start taking a interest to the men’s clothes in M&S !.
You can be heard saying out loud :- “This is nice, what do you think”.
Oh dear ……. It has started my friends.
It just creeps up behind you, just like old age !.
I do have a couple of there suits - sorry 😢.
Handy for attending funeral’s.
Another sign of old age, you don’t go to many weddings anymore ?.
Hope that has amused you a little folks and does not have you feeling to depressed right now.
Whoops ….. it’s time for another one of my “Get you Moving Pills 💊 “.
Take care folks !.
